Evo MR - Build Advice/Questions
The dodson sump kit, if you take into account that it also acts as a cooler, not just a pan, its a steal of a deal. I can tell you the CNC work on the pan is amazing- no sharp edges, gasket groove is cut correctly for a good seal and the kit works. Fitment is great in the car. We run one on our shop car now.
As far as track use down here, I only have one car that has gotten hot enough to warrant an external cooler. Hence why we are making our small cooler kit, as it just needs a bit more help on the very hot days. On any track car we recommend a radiator upgrade, especially if on a larger than stock turbo. Down here we can get 105-110F days with track temps in the mid 100s not being uncommon.
Remote start would be a sweet upgrade, we can turn on the AC down here instead of the heat!
. I don't like splicing into the OEM harness when we do not have to so I generally tend to pass on aftermarket alarms/remote start kits. I wish Mitsu had an oem option for the SST.
Honestly I would recommend ANYONE the Dodson kit, as even if your not beating the car on a daily basis the clutch life WILL be extended, especially when daily driving as the period of time the transmission is not up to temp is greatly reduced. Tack on a trans service at the same time as you have the drain the transmission to install anyway

The 80's called, they said you are being a douche.
The vast majority of modern supercars are switching to these boxes because our fleshy appendages just can't compete. Welcome to the future. It is expensive to upgrade but it's the price you pay for the technology, the latest and greatest is always more expensive but it's getting better. In just the last 2 years the cost of doing major upgrades to the SST has fallen by roughly 60%, more parts are hitting the market everyday and it's been getting better and better, and don't try the "You shouldn't have to upgrade it" line either because you are replacing the stock clutch in the 5 speed at the same power levels if not less.
So basically if you just discount the MR because it doesn't have a clutch and can just do all the shifting for you if you want it to then you are really just falling behind the times. You probably also complain about how you don't understand kids these days and spend your weekends sitting on the porch yelling at kids to get off your lawn.

Wow and Im the one being a douche huh??? I did not discredit the MR at all. I simply asked why would one get an automatic Evo. And I fully understand the SST will shift faster than a 5 speed manual Evo. BUT not everyone drags or tracks their Evos. Many of these cars are DD's. Hence why I asked what made you get an automatic. I made it very clear I wasnt trolling or trying to **** people off. Was an honest question.

I bought my MR, after having two GSR's, because it is strictly a DD. I don't want to shift. I'm old. My knee is banged up from years of karate injuries, I spill my latte's, etc, etc. I got the quietest exhaust, softest tires and smoothest suspension I could buy, too

I know exactly what you mean but I did not mean it like that at all. GTR is cut and dry because it has no option for manual. Evo X on the other hand can come auto or manual. Thats why I asked. Anyone that can afford a MR surely could afford the GSR. So I knew there had to be reasons for getting one. Which you all pointed out to me and they make perfect sense.
NOT TROLLING but can someone please explain why you bought an automatic Evo? They do not hold power in stock form, very costly to upgrade, even more costly to replace if not under warranty, and they take the "skill" out of driving. Daily driver in HEAVY traffic in a major city is only reason I can see getting an auto trans.
Roach:
Lots of potential reasons, some more valid than others:
1) SST > manual in autocross or road coarse. Lots of performance articles prove this, supercars have it for this reason. Hell, it came from F1
2) SST more comfortable to drive in DD
3) SST allows people to drive your car who can't drive a stick
Modding the SST isn't nearly as expensive as you think to hold power. If you are in for a turbo upgrade, which you need to exceed the torque problems with the SST in most cases, you can spring for upgrade. Talk to Kozmic if you like. Labor plus parts to hold 600whp is 1300-2000 if you pull the transmission and send them the basket.
So, lots of reasons to have an SST. It takes some getting used to coming from a manual, but I like it and I like my manual. Both are fun to drive for me. My evo is more versatile, however.

Might I add 4) +1 Gear - 6 vs 5
What I like about the extra gear is the lower RPM (and therefor drone/noise) for long highway road trips
Those are valid points and I thought upgrading them was a lot more expensive. I just need to drive an X MR. Auto Evo does sound really nice for DD not going to lie. Time to find someone at a local car meet that will let me drive their X. Number 3 I did not even think about. It sucks having my setup, deathly afraid to let anyone drive my car. Afraid they will destroy my twin disc.
And man does it shift wicked fast... my god. I couldn't shift that quick in any stickshift.
With power, I think this car will take the crown for best overall car I've owned.

Mr twin clutch sportronic@ shift transmission provides connectivity and the power efficiency of a manuel gear box along with a remarkable smooth automatic shifting.using the mode, sequential or paddle shifters.Driving the MR makes me feel like im playing GT6 with the ps3 controller.Im relaxing/comfy and more focus on the streets/off roads.

Thanks for the tip.
Also let me clarify, when I said no skill to drive I meant launching and shifting. Would still require skill to drive it on a road course, auto x, etc... And I not worried what people buy, was just curious as to the reasons. And everyone made very valid points that I overlooked. Yes, I do need to drive one to fully appreciate it.
