I don't have a navi system, just the sight and sound package.

That was the most compelling aspect of this problem to me. Even people without nav are hearing it too.

Honestly the curve thing makes since though, I definitely remembering it happening twice when I was approaching an off ramp on the interstate...

Tested this fully today and the above post is exactly correct. It warns you when you are about to make a sharp curve or swooping turn.

Now I want to turn it off... fail

I accidentally turned it off a while ago somehow...I actually liked it. But I have no clue how to turn it back on without having a navi...

What is IT that you turned off, the ding sound? I don't have navi so I don't know how the car would know if there is a corner up ahead.

Curve guidance warning system (the gps knows the road ahead)
or
Lane departure warning system (uses cameras on your vehicle)

Longshot here but do you keep your FAST key in the same pocket as your phone?
Cell phones can block/scramble communication between your FAST key and FAST key receiver in the cabin if they are in close proximity to each other. i.e. same pocket.

Mitsubishi is keeping track of you. Don't worry, Snowden will expose them.

I've noticed the same issue in my 2011 GSR. I do not have navi. I keep my key fob in my ashtray (right under my stereo) every time I drive, bc I'm a girl and don't keep keys in my pockets. I thought it could be a low battery in my key, so I changed that. It still happens. Randomly. For no apparent reason. I do not think it is related to the service schedule programmed in the car. But (again, I'm a girl) it scares the sh*t out of you, and makes you think something's wrong with your car. Maybe a question for mitsu, not that I'd let them try and fix it.

So *that's* what that is.
My MR with Nav dings at me when I hit the fly-over ramp going home.

But I thought that was the "ding" it gives me when the '14 Nav picks up the speed limit -- and I'm doing over that.
(It did that to me on the freeway when the speed limit dropped.)
(The road is 45 but the nav lists the curve as 35.) (Odd that the Nav shows that curve lower. The ramp isn't posted at all.)
(It's a little annoying for the Nav to tell me about speed limits the town didn't bother to post. )

But on a rallye car, instead of a "ding", you'd think it'd announce, "Five left, tightens".
