My new 14 MR

Hey Guys,
So after 3 VIII's and 1 IX, I finally dipped into buying a new 14 MR base model!

I very much enjoy the balance and taut feel of this chassis but have one nagging issue.
I hear slightest wind noise on highway past 60 mph and it progressively gets worse with speed. It came with a mitsu wind deflector installed as the only option.

Is the deflector likely causing turbulence leading to wind noise or X's has this known issue and I should shut the F'up and live w/ it?

thanks!

Wind deflector for sure. I have a 14 MR and had a 14 GSR no noise like that in either one and I had no deflector.

Correct!

OP your gonna have to install a turbo back exhaust, Trust me that's the only way to get rid of that noise.

It's the Mitsubishi brand wind deflector from dealer installed option, I assume.
There is a pair of metal fork stands that pokes into the rubber window seals. I'll try to relieve these first...

These are the first wind deflectors that I had... So I'm not sure if this noise is byproduct of them... I really don't care for them but WTH they came w/ the car for 95 bucks.

This is the best advise for a new Evo owner next to getting mud flaps!

on the window? or sunroof?
the window ones are called rain guards. So you can crack your windows during the rain. Cuz it always rains in Japan and Japanese people are heavy smokers.

If you take the metal posts off, you risk having the whole thing fly off on the freeway!

I have this same wind noise and you think 60 is annoying try going 80mph which is the speed limit here. I have been to the dealership and they replaced the window sill and that did not fix it. Its quite annoying and this is a noise that I am not going to just live with it. Anybody have this issue and fix it. It sounds like it is coming directly from where my ear is on the driver side. Its really really annoying.

Do you have the wind deflector spoken of by the OP?

I have nothing like that in my 2014 MR, and that includes triple digit speeds.
