Good deal on an Evo X??

I just sold my IX MR last week, and now im looking to get into an X. I found an 2008 Evolution on CL today, drove it, and thought it was a pretty good deal. The car has 55k miles, clean title, and the mods are

ETS intake
ETS 3 in. anodized intercooler
GS 3 port EBCS
Lower/ Upper IC piping
Custom turbo back exhaust
external waste gage dumped to atmosphere

When i drove the car, I noticed that the wastegate sometimes fluttered, and sometimes it didnt. Bad or good? And he had it tuned by MAC in CO to 26psi on a stock block. He said his bottom dollar is $18k, but I may be able to get it lower than that. What do yal think???

pretty good deal for $18k with not that many miles! ill look for x's for fun sometimes and ill see them for like $28k with like 40k miles at least. I know 26psi is fine for the stock block, I've been running 26 pounds for months and have actually ran 29 pounds on pump gas before so no issues there. Not really any big mods like turbo upgrade or anything so looks like a solid deal man! good luck!

Wish it were stock and it would be worth every penny.

I'd have to test that thing to death to fork out that kind of cash.

Don't forget you may have to address the timing chain if it's not an 11+.

Prior to '11 has an older version timing chain that had a greater propensity of stretching.

I purchased a 2011 mr Used with slight mods and Im beginnging to wish I would have held out for a stock car.

Dont get me wrong the car is very clean and it has tasteful mods but after driving it for awhile I can tell it has had its fair share of abuse

If it's an MR, have Baka from here, or a place like Kozmic look at your tune. In most cases, people can't tune for the SST transmission so it will not feel right. Get in touch with someone then see where you are. I'm sure with some minor tweaks, your car will be running like you are expecting it to... Also when did it get the SST fluids changed last? It might be time depending on miles!

The tune on the car is the factory tune. It has a Greddy single exhaust, K&n intake and uicp. 31,000 MILES

As far as i know the sst fluid is original. I have an appointment to have all fluids changed this coming Wednesday.

Get it over to 5150 Racing if you're in CA and have them see what's on it, tune for it, and give you back a great running car. You're not stock, so I'd get the tune checked out asap. Good luck, I'm sure you can get it running properly in no time.

My 11 had the older version of the chain as well. It depends on when it rolled off assembly line.

I know this is beyond the point of a discussion, but how can anyone say that an 08' GSR with that kinda mileage (er the OP's post) is worth only 18k? For that price the car is an absolute steal. Are you people kidding me?

Cause most of them rather spend 81k on a used GTR35.
