I got a new 2014 and the MMCS manual never said that I could adjust car systems with it.
Trip, lock beeps, maintenance, etc., are all on the HUD.

I'm in the minority, but I like that they broke the connection between the MMCS and the car systems.
The NAV/COM is tied into GPS, HD radio, Bluetooth, Sirius, -- just about every radio frequency there is.

... But hackers can't get from the MMCS to the car electronics.

Car hacking will be coming.
(Heck, even 20 year old unix Bash features are being called bugs, now. )
But the 2014 is "firewalled".

In practice, I suspect the reason for the disconnect was to hide their car systems from Nokia, when they added "HERE" to the MMCS.

I just wish they'd added a way to import addresses to the Nav.

What you are seeing is functions that are available in other models with the same MMCS and not the evolution.

I can't believe how damn limited a 2014 nav unit is, it's scary how much better pretty much other stock unit is compared to ours.

Too bad you can't even use 1/8th of that size. It has a strict file limit too which is even more annoying.

I would double check to see how much of your music it actually loaded. There is no way it loaded all 10 gigs of songs.

I highly doubt it would even load 5 gigs worth of tracks. It has a folder file limit that it reaches and will not display files past the limit.

I believe you.
But you are very welcome to sit in my car and listen the music.

Do you know the answer to my question by any chance, about the nav dispaly with engine monitoring from hks?

You either loaded large individual files, or not that many files.

But I digress, the stock nav would have been better served if they just kept the built in hard drive.

What's the point of allowing a 64gb SD if you can't even load enough on there to matter anyway...

That one I am not sure of. There were some talks about different updates that could be done but so far no one has anything concrete.

I am waiting for the one that unlocks the DVD functionality and full file loading capability as well.

Well. Hard drive has moving part , which is not good for a harsh riding cars. Never mind when you actually stiffen it up even more.
Memory card doesn't have moving parts, kind of solid hard drive if you wish. Also it is a lot more flexible then a hard drive. Very simple upload download etc. It is interchangeable etc. Very convenient.

Even with the ridiculous rough ride I have never heard of one single skip in these cars

The real issue was cutting costs, and they definitely did that.

Same here, big time. Not being able to select a song while the car is moving is a huge failure as well.
