Well, you do have the "up" and "down" buttons on the steering wheel.

I will admit disappointment that it doesn't pay much attention to the directory structure on the SD flash card.
The aftermarket unit in my other car sorts and plays mp3 files by the folder and subfolder, so I can keep the classical, jazz, foreign, etc, music in blocks.
(It also has buttons for fwd/rev ten files at a time.)

The MMCS only seems to have sort by album (if provided on the ID3), artist, or title.

But flash was a feature I specifically wanted for the music server.

I replaced the Alpine CD player in the 328 with a flash player after the Alpine threw a CD at me on a pothole.

The real issue was cutting costs, and they definitely did that.
its not about skipping like the CD or dvd player does

i can select songs, but i cant browse, and use the navigation set up. Which i can see why they did it. So as other manufacturers...
But i am sure as soon as some one will heck the nav we can delete the speed reading for that feature.
Mainly that is what i am looking for.

And a grayed out screen that only illuminates while I'm stopped, thanks ha ha.

Well, it's a sports car. When you're not stopped, music is secondary.
"Drive" is a verb, not a gear.

Go, stop, turn. Everything else is noise.

You don't have to be doing 90 mph to care how you corner.
Make a habit of doing it right at 40 mph, and it'll be easier when you're doing 90.

I leave my display on map. Any road that HERE marks red, I absolutely want to avoid.

Besides; my SD only contains my favorite tracks I've ripped from all my CDs, so I don't need to be picky about what's playing.
Every once in a while, there'll be one I'm not in the mood for, so I just hit the up button and move on.

But when I drive, I *drive*.
(Or "When I drive, I thrive" )

(Any time you try to start a stereo thread on the F-car forums, everyone always asks, "Why do you need anything but the Italian opera from the mill?". )

Driving down the highway on the way to pick up a little kid from elementary school it would be nice to select a song the same way I can choose a radio station, don't think that is asking for the world.

I've owned many a sports car, none of them have ever limited me like mitsu has while at the same time warning me every time I approach a curve

Sure it is. Do you know how hard your vehicle would have to shake to hurt an internal hard drive? I'm sure some of these guys mod their suspension enough to rattle your fillings out but still.

Just ask the first 3 generations of ipod users that run with them on a daily basis on their arms and still do to this day.

It was about cutting down costs, and they succeeded.
