2014 oil change interval weird?!?
As I'm about to hit 2800 miles, my oil maintenance light comes on. Why is it set to 3000 miles? Is it going to change to 5000 miles intervals after i reset it? 3k seems really low...
I know about the whole NAS11 is 5000 miles. So you're saying don't reset it until i change the interval time.
I wouldn't but it's obviously up to you.
I didn't buy a brand new Evo to have it's resale value take a hit by not following mitsu's schedule, especially when it comes to cheap oil changes.
When I sell this thing in a year everything will be documented and be worth a little more to the right person.
But of course going to 5000 miles on synthetic oil is not going to hurt anything.

It says 5k for normal use and 3k for severe schedule IIRC. I change at 4k because it's the middle and my oil analysis always comes back pristine.
I use mobil 1 5w30 with mobil 1 oil filter. Will switch to 5w40 when warranty runs out.

The HUD reminder is programmed to the book numbers: 3000 miles or six months.
My reminder went off at six months, when I had about 1100 miles on it.
(I have a short commute, and the EVO is one of three cars. My VIII only had 28K miles on the clock at 10 years.)
I've been tracking service on cars since a '55 Chevy. I don't need the HUD to tell me when it's time.
(I still keep a fuel/oil/tire pressure log in the glove box on all my cars.)
(Just like I don't need TPMS to tell me to check my tire pressures every few months. I keep a pressure gauge in the glove box, too.)

The light in my car (08) comes on at 5k. Not sure about the newer models.

Highly recommended. If you're under warranty, let the dealership deal with it. I ran into an issue where the dealership denied by car warranty because I changed my own oil. Long process to fight them so I ended up screwing the dealership and did everything myself.
^ find all your maintenance need.
