Ask for a sales agreement. Ask them to fax you it. If they won't do this, it basically shows they intended to try and screw you on the price. Tell them if they don't do it they will lose a sale, period. I had places assure me they could match a price, get it approved, etc.

When I showed up the deal would change. The interest rate would go up, the cost of the car would go up, etc. Get it ALL in writing, have it faxed to you. If you don't have a fax, see if you can get it faxed to your work or just have it mailed. If they ask for a deposit or want to attach a time limit, that's fine, they need to protect their interests too. Just get everything in writing.

 

I think at the end of the day the dealer wants to sell a car and you want to buy a car so just make sure everything is clear and in writing and everything will be cool!
