Read the warranty docs that come with the car. It specifically excludes "weather events" (So if pump fails from super cold weather your SOL) and corrosion from road salts or other "de-icing or corrosive agents".

So if you live in a temperate climate, have never exposed to car to corrosive elements, and keep it 100% stock with all services done at the dealer, you have a pretty good chance of the warranty covering the pump.

Everyone else, don't count on the warranty. Either relocate the pump using DrivenFabs kit, or have a few grand put up for when it does fail. Not IF but WHEN.

People think that the warranty extension was specifically for the evo, but its not. Its really for the Outlander. It uses the same pump as the evo for the SAWC system. And since mitsu is now focused on suv, cuv, and ev, they are covering their *** on one of their biggest sellers.
I agree with you. I'm just saying, the way the new letter is worded, it says that it is covered for corrosion. I have read some posts in the other ACD pump failure thread that dealers where flexing on warranty work since it was a well known issue. The fact that they are even issuing this is because they know it's a big problem. I know my pump will fail eventually and if it does cost me out of my own pocket, you bet your *** I will fight it tooth and nails. It is already costing me money if they deny it so what's the harm in fighting it? It's better than nothing that they issued this.

kinda weak...we bought pretty much there most expensive car and all they try to do is get around providing service for it. I love my evo but im pretty sure this will be the first and last Mitsu product i will ever own.

Unfortunately no. I don't know if you've ever tried fighting a dealership (I have with Subaru which is my DD and I was fighting them for their rusting issues) but in the end you will most probably give up it's so frustrating and time consuming and in the end you most likely lose as everything is so convoluted.
Exactly who will decide if your pump has failed due to corrosion? Mitsu will say it's your tune, or even maybe using A/M redline ATF or your exhaust tips (as previously mentioned) or any other modification. If you've read your warranty you will understand you really don't have a warranty if Mitsu (or actually any car manufacturer) decides you've done anything to modify your car...warranty will be often be cancelled. It was me who first posted the opinion of Mitsu probably wanting to extend the pump warranty for sales on the Outlander and I totally believe this is why the warranty has been extended and is why I've been watching what gets warranty (which Evos) under this new extension.
I started the pump relocation idea for our X's with Autotorque in England over 2 years ago because they were the only company who'd done any pump relocations on previous Evos and that was before anyone thought about it here in North America and IMO this kit is the best kit out there for the X (I made sure it was so) because it removes ALL the hardlines to the AYC (which isn't on any other kit to my knowledge) and as far back on the ACD connection as possible to get to plus there's other benefits you might want to check it out such as 2 tiered frame to prevent vibration...I recommend other kits for those who have Ralliarts as the price is a bit cheaper and the ACD line is really the only line that matters. I'm all for supporting us here in North America and I'll even spend more to support us...but it has to be the best available because nothing goes on my car but the best and my cars get it done right the first time.
Someone on this site asked me if I still thought relocation was still needed with the new warranty extension...definitely as I've explained...relocation will be your saviour (regardless what kit there's a few good ones but as I've said only one kit goes on my Evo) so just pick your price and security. Anyways, this is my opinion after 2 long years of researching (you can't imagine the time I spent) and working to make the relocation kits for us here in North America. I have no agenda...I don't own a company and I have spent more of my free time on this than I'll ever do on anything like this again...I did this all to help a few of my friends locally who were having pump failures here then decided I wanted to help everyone else here in North America. Wow...it got big including others making kits. I'm a perfectionist and have no agenda. I love our cars...

Doesn't matter, if you've modified your X or Ralliart in any way they can refuse pump replacement (read your warranty) because they are doing exactly that.

My relocation with kit from Autotorque...AYC lines totally removed with stainless and are flexible to go above supports protecting them even if you race.

yeah I've read your posts on the other thread about the relocation kit. My pump seems to be on its last leg. which is crazy because I've only been in NY for 9 months now and only seen salty roads for 1-2 months. Don't know if it is the cold or the corrosion but after even driving my car for a few minutes, I can hear a whine from the rear wheel well. Like y'all have said, I'm sure it will be an uphill battle but I'm sure as hell am going to try. I've fought dealerships before on similar issues and have gotten okay results.

The relocation kit is an absolute necessity to prolong pump life. @coryl and others have done a lot of work to make them available to us. USE THEM.

It wont help those that live in super cold climates, but it will eliminate the corrosion caused by exposure to the elements

Well this sucks, just got a call from Mitsubishi Corporate about the pump warrenty being denied. My pump failed at around 60K about two years ago and I'm over 100k mark. Damn you Mitsubishi! > Anyone have any recommendations where to get a cheap ACD pump or get this decision overturned?

I got this in the mail. Looks like you can try to get some money back if you have the work done already. Keyword is try. I'm gonna send my paperwork in next week and hope for a miracle.

I did get my pump replaced last year at around 80K. Did anybody get reimbursed yet for the replacement?
I will try to send my paperwork this week, thanks.

Yup. This is true. I received the same letter in the mail. My 14 GSR only has 7k but it definitely is true that they extended my warranty from 3 years 36k to 10 years 100k.
