I get combined average of 26-28 mpg for standard daily driving or 10.1-11 Lt/100kms for those non imperial types This decreases the more fun I want to have obviously

No, i did mean 36mpg! I drove about 90+miles from the local track (DFW) back to home, 100% hwy with right foot cruise control lol, between 55~60mph, luckily no traffic that Sunday evening. Then i filled up the tank again and did the caculation using the real data (never trust the dash display). Yup, it was a little over 36mpg!! I was shocked too, it's even better than those new Toyota Camerys!

60 mile round trip to work and back, mostly highway with only 3 stop signs each way. If I play nice 20 mpg driving 72 mph. My Honda S2000 only does a little better, 23 mpg, but I drive 75 mph.

That has to be all downhill. Dear god, I'm at about 20 typically...maybe up toward 22 (but never more) in perfect conditions.

I am able to get about ~190-220 miles per tank (depending on the driving habit for that tank obviously and how much fun i've been having). I always reset my trip counter every time i fill up. If the tank is roughly 12 gallons, by my estimated calculations that'd be between ~15.8-18.3 mpg.

The best i've ever gotten was a long highway trip (~70-80mph) where i had to fill up twice and got like 240 miles per tank, which is 20mpg. I always fill up on 93 only and currently on factory tune/no engine mods whatsoever.

YMMV

Cheers!

I forgot to mention: that 25-26 MPG around town in MA in the EVO VIII was using *real* gasoline.

I didn't get stuck trying to burn 10% corn flakes until I moved to the DC area.
Where the go-for-lunch traffic lights make any decent fuel mileage impossible, anyway.

Did a 200 mile round trip from South San Diego to Disneyland. 65 miles per hour on cruise control and only consumed 3/4 of a tank. When the next fill up was due, I drove 280 miles on a full tank.

Ok...

Based on all the valuable data points you all have provided (outside of a few outliers) I believe my calculated 20 mpg is normal - based on my driving habits and pattern - and additional vetting by a Mitsubishi specialist is not required. Thank you all for saving me the $80 diagnostic fee. Beers on me the next we meet.

Thanks!

I run city just about every tank. I average 18-19 and I'm not a light footed driver. Highway I can't seem to break 24 (Going 75 is so high in the RPMs). Here's my Fuely log (the spike at the end is my highway travels)

Highway most I have gotten is about 25.5 MPG driving like a Grandma, however the temperature has taken a hit in my area averaging about 25 F and my MPG seemed to have taken a drop to about 22 MPG. Average I would say is about 21 w/ 20% City and 80% Highway.
