let me explain how did i understand it. For me he thinks the Evo is still a crappy lancer.

well this is what he said:

so he thinks the Evo is still a Lancer, and same outdated economy car, just somehow great on track.

Now that "somehow" is where he absolutely shows his knowledge about the Evo, since he thinks it is still a Lancer. Somehow basically relates for me "i dont know how"

But in a reality the Evo is not a lance anymore, it does wear many features of the Lancer. He sees a lancer , and he doesnt know the truth behind the clothing.
That is why he said somehow... lol
In fact all other cars on the list (except the Delta) is a hooked up car vs the detuned race ready Evo and Delta. Evo and teh Delta Integrale was build purposely for racing not for weekend fun or street. Even got Homologed by FIA. Which is a big deal. If you know what that means you would already know why the Evo is NOT a crapy Lancer. (at least)

As i said before on the EVoX forum ( if you want to see the argument there look it up PLS.)

PS:

oh about the Lancia Delta, this is very common in rally cars they keep the car name what they based( by dimensions) and build on they rally cars, and add on the for example Evolution or Integrale etc. name to it to extinguish the race car version.
Spectacular car by all means. Same as the Evo , has little common with the Delta on the street .
Remember this is over 20 years old car

this is also a Lancia Delta S4 which by the writer logic should be also a same crappy car as a street Delta

Dang, I didn't get my panties twisted by this article. The way I see it they are describing performance relative to crappiness. The Cobalt has better performance relative to its crappiness. e.g. If the Evo gets a 10 performance and a 6 crappiness but the Cobalt gets a 8 performance and 3 crappiness.

All the cars on the list are known for not being luxurious or even "nice" yet are capable performers in different ways. I don't think the author was suggesting that the Cobalt is an outright better performer than the Evo.

In my honest opinion though, I never thought the X was that crappy, but I come from humble roots.
