I just received the extended AWC hydraulic unit warranty letter in the mail. Coincidentally, upon installing my winter wheel set, the AWC symbol on my 08 Evo X GSR started showing. My winter set does not have the TPMS as that is currently on my summer set wheels. I just called mitsubishi and they want to charge me $125 diagnostic fee to see what's going on. I'd like to avoid that fee by asking my fellow evo owners. Is the lack of TPMS affecting the AWC unit by illuminating and not allowing to change the AWD setting?

 

nope. TPMS has nothing to do with the AWC.

Trust me, haven't had any on my car in years.

The correlation between swapping wheels and the AWC going out is probably spurious. The third variable that is probably responsible for both is the drop in temp.

TPMS has nothing to do with AWC. Don't be surprised if the dealership tries to blame the wheels for your AWC light. Put the stockers on and take it to the dealer.
