I think I blew my clutch on my Evo....again.
Honestly, I wouldn't put much stock in other people saying your driving is fine.. An Evo is a heavy car and it's awd so the drivetrain has even more stress on it. Unless the other people are driving an Evo, it's not like most manual cars. I have never had to replace a clutch in my Evos after 6 years of DDing them, even when they have 100+ hp over stock.
The main thing that could kill clutches is riding them.. Like when you start in 1st gear, the higher the revs you use to start moving, and the longer that you hold the revs there, the more wear and tear you are putting on the clutch. Because of the heavy/AWD stuff, it makes it different from most other manual cars or trucks. It's good that you are getting better, it just takes a while. Not trying to say you can't drive, just trying to help you out a little.
And Launching also burns it up pretty quick.
Hopefully it is just an adjustment thing this time tho

The people who have told me my driving is fine has been other Evo owners. I don't ride the clutch and like I said I launched it probably 2-3 times a month. I've gone through a clutch repair before, and it was a gradual process. This time it went from 100% fine to completely not catching within 24 hours.
If you keep putting power to a dying clutch, it wont last more than a day or two.
But alas, I feel your pain. My first manual was an my Evo and granted, the dealer sold me a car with a bad clutch, but I killed what was left of it in 3 days just by being a **** driver.
Best of luck man and great price on the clutch install. Mine was $2200 without a flywheel replacement.
one thing that I didnt see mentioned here that should of been is the clutch needs to break in first before you drive hard on it. otherwise it wont seat right and will wear prematurly. ie NO launchin or hard driving for 500miles..
other than that a clutch shoud not wear anywhere near that fast. so either its not installed correctly or your not driving it right.
Going to a higher stage clutch is NOT going to help. if anything your just gonna break more costlier stuff and make it even harder for you to drive.
My assumption is your slipping the clutch to much and burning it up. and on a launch slip it just till you feel it start to grab than you need to let it go completly.

Competition stage 2 is crap, had this clutch in my VIII and it crapped out after 13K miles on my slow DD that was making 280 whp. Never cheap out on a clutch, Exedy Seems to hold up to the abuse really well. I've put 50K hard miles on my exedy twin, with over a hundred launches at 560 whp, the I rebuilt it to a triple.
I would definitely not launch your car for awhile. if the shop does do repairs or replaces the clutch again, let it break in first. Also, as much fun as it is to launch the Evo, you are going to kill the clutch and your gears. Removing the pill will temporarily help with launches since it will remove the delay of putting it in gear but one bad shift at too high of rpm and you are going to wreck your whole transmission. As a novice to driving a manual car a pill is actually beneficial to you but you can't keep launching your car unless you want to keep replacing the clutch and eventually your whole transmission. Launching your car 2-4 times a month is way too much just in my personal opinion.
But best of luck with the repairs. I hope you get it all sorted quickly.

My evo is my first manual car as well, however I got past the learning curve quick and I baby the for the most part. I've launched twice (once stock, once with some mods) but won't consider ever doing it again with the pill in, does more harm then good. Sounds like you should really consider taking the pill out its not that hard. But after 2 clutches I don't want to tell you go burn thru a 3rd but it's your decision.
so as others have asked and you still havent answered...how are you launching your car? If done right you shouldnt smell too much clutch..esp with the stage 2 as its a tougher material....are you slipping the clutch to infinity and beyond? Dropping the clutch? There is a very fine line you flirt with when launching a car...also when you launch...how close are the launches together? I had my oem clutch for about 45k miles zero issues and occasional launches...one day I launched back to back within a minute of one another....drove home fine..next day car was not drivable.....I warped my oem flywheel with all that heat in such a small period of time....I suggest keeping your launches to a rarity...or learn how to pull off your own trans in the garage so its not costing you 10 hours of labor every time
