First mod?

So I just got my Evo it is bone stock. The first thing I intend on doing is getting my windows tinted and a clear bra put on the front number. I'm trying to go more reliability mods and read a good after market drop in air filter is very good for the car, could someone link me to a good relatively cheap or am I better off buying a cold air intake for the car that someone here is selling? Is a blow off valve good for the Evo?

From what everyone has told me. Your better buying all your parts at once and getting a protune. With this car, there is no one part buying (unless you want to drop 500 bucks for a tune each time) Cobb Socal said to do these mods to get started. Intake, EBCS, Test pipe, Catback, and maybe UICP to get rid of the rubber piping.

I would use a search engine, such as google, to find already answered questions like this one. What are your plans with the car? Will you be tracking it from time to time or just as a DD?

Oh and please don't go with cheap parts because our evo's tend to not like that.

But if you must insist... try E 2 the BAY

this. hes spot on with this statement, and thats exactly what you should do. figure out your goals with the evo, if you wanna track it, or just dd it and not do any tracking. if you dont wanna go too far, intake and exhaust with a tune will be fine for you. and then move onto exterior looks, coilovers, and such.

yes a drop in filter would be good and no tune needed for that.

The stock bov is plenty good for the stock turbo dont really need a upgraded one.

if gonna do that might as well just do the basic bolt ons.

exhaust w high flow cat or test pipe
3 port bc
upic pipe
tune

no need for bov
above mods will net you 300+ whp very reliably

Do shops really charge the full 500 for a retune? damn I would expect a bit of a discount for returning customers.

I guess depending on State and shop? Here in CA its roughly 300 or so for retune. Again depending on shop.

1st mod either pro tune or great coil overs or rims/tires. something you can feel to change the car. as opposed to something like a fmic, uicp...

Lower engine mount will stop your engine from playing basketball.
Very noticeable feel!

For some shops, probably.
I live in WA state, and English Racing charges $400 for a first tune and then $250 for re-tunes. So it just depends who you go to.

Probably a dumb question, but what are you referring to when you say the engine is playing basketball lol.

Probably means, makes the car much more stiffer. Good for taking turns. I sat in a friends car with really stiff motor mounts. The steering wheel shook but you can tell instantly how firm the car was.
