Intercooler piping

So I currently have cobb intercooler piping and wanted to paint it gold. Is there a good way to paint it myself or any way to make it a nice shiny gold? Or should I just get it powdercoated?

There is always a way-- just takes time and patience and prep work is the key. Sand, sand again, finer paper and steel wool, not missing anything. Prime with a good quality primer in a light coat and prime again in a cross pattern once first coat is dry. Sand again with steel wool, paint top coat several light coats. Clear coat if you like. Prep and sanding is everything or depending on your attitude--nothing. Now tell us, Can you paint your intake pipes gold? lol.

don't know if you can find HT gold---but you can find HT clear.
Duplicolor makes a good paint. Take your time and let everything dry between coats and don't touch!

Or...instead of doing all that extra work you could just find someone to powdercoat them gold for you! It will resist heat and be easier!

So just sand it down and do everything like you said and then use the color I want and then clear coat? Thanks for your help!

Use self-adhesive gold foil.

^ good find!

Now, to be clear, this a cosmetic mod, right? Because the gold foil heat shield will protect a component from external heat.

It will not help your intake charge run cooler (shed heat from the turbo). The upper pipe is hotter than the engine bay temperature - so, by wrapping/painting it - you actually trap heat in.

You could make an argument for wrapping the lower pipe...

I'll prob end up going with that foil! It wouldn't make anything hotter than those things normally would be right? I know the piping gets hot of course but I see the foil resists heat up to 850 degrees so im assuming there wouldn't be any issues running this foil? I don't wanna start a fire in my engine bay because of this stuff lol

Yeah I feel like I've seen the gold foil before. Gonna go ahead and go with it since it saves a lot of work as well
