I have a highly modified turbo e46 m3 and a lightly modified (for now) evo 9 mr. I love both cars but I will say that a properly modified e46 m3 will feel just as 'fun' as any evo out there- I can promise you that. I roll race + track my e46 m3, on 93 it makes ~470whp and is good for ~720whp on e85. It's sitting on ohlins coils and handles like no other. The m3 feels much more 'solid' compared to the evo, but I honestly love both cars for different reasons.

why are you making such a large bump in power on E85 over 93, I know that you can obviously run more timing and boost (I have 450 on 93 and 500 on E85 in my X) so just wondering why such a huge difference?

There are alot of reasons why that can be, two reasons being running out of fuel, or turbo isn't big enough to make anymore power past 500

true, but usually e85 is good for an extra 100ish or so? 270whp is a HUGE jump. especially over 93oct.

It doesn't matter, you can throw e100 in there but if you don't have the fuel system or turbo to support it, you won't gain much

on my last setup I made 400 on 91 and 460 on e85, why because I didn't have the injectors to support it, I needed 1300cc to get 500 on e85, at 460 my 1000cc were getting stressed out, but I have friends that make 400 on pump and 550 on e85 because they have the fuel system and turbo to support it

That's mostly because not many guys run turbo m3's at the track. I bet this car is faster than 99% of 'streetable' evo's out there:

stock block s54 is knock limited on pump gas due to high compression (11.5:1)- I could make ~500whp on 93 but I'm running a very conservative pump tune to play it safe.

if the sole reason he had been limited to 470whp on 93oct was due to injector/fuel pump, then know way was he going to flow enough e85 to make 720whp. 470whp on pump would put him at about a 900-1000cc injector.

your second post fits right along those guidelines.

now reading his actual reasoning, it all makes more sense. :

touche- yes that evo is moving love it. 1 second faster than the platte forme ag e46 m3 that I posted- my guess is that they will be breaking their own record this season however

oh, i gotcha. me too. i was just using a general "safe rule" for injectors. for 91oct we tend to take the injector cc/2 - = safe WHP, in regard to duty cycle. example:
1000cc injector = 500whp pump. 93 does better, of course.
i was just bench racing with math LOL. 470whp x 2 = 940cc injector so would guess a 1000cc injector. no WAY a 1000cc injector cc would make 700+whp on e85. it would need 1800cc or so. which would make 900whp on pump, etc.

sometimes i just think too much LOL. i just did my taxes and my mind is fried. sorry. but thanks for bearing with me and my ranting LOL

Haha. I like the e46 M. Great vehicle. But evos are the time attack kings. All good for competition, though.

i Googled "Buttonwillow CW13 lap records" and saw lots and lots and lots of Evos. i think as far up as top 3. on an interesting note, no GTRs listed until about #20 or so.
