I agree with seeing if the engine still spins freely (check again).

 

He said he already checked the starter. And the engine spun freely when he picked up. But now that he has those pieces off of it, it wont turn over.

 

This is really strange but like someone said, you'll have to turn at the pulleys and cranks to see if somethings jammed. Hopefully nothing busted right before you coincidentally took off the other stuff.

These cars are extremely finicky though but I did have an issue when I did my build with the stupid throttle body getting stuck

 

What do you mean MAF shouldn't open? It's just a sensor? I don't even have it on at the moment, I'm hoping it's because of that

 

The MAF shouldn't affect the startup, I doubt it's that but it's an X so who knows!! It's always a mystery
