Less than 60K warranty question

So my EVO X has been leaking small amounts of oil. At first i thought i was the return line to the turbo but the dealership is claiming Cylinder Head Gasket.

The dealer claimed my vehicle is still covered under the drive-train warranty. Would my mods create an issue for the dealerships to replace the gasket?

I know the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act protects my warranty as long as the aftermarket parts don't create the issue.

Do you think I'll need to revert my car back to stock?

Yes! Many people have had their warranties void from just seeing mods on the car. Some dealers won't care but better be on the safe side!

The Magnuson-Moss act is nice in theory, but it doesn't actually help in practice. If you have mods, the dealer can refuse the claim. You can certainly battle it, but it doesn't mean they'll honor a claim.

If you just have a simple bolt on like a catback they won't say anything. But if you need major work done on the vehicle and you have a major modification or a reflash, they will NOT warranty it. I work at BMW dealer as a tech.

make sure its not your oil pan...if you have other places do your oil changes they can over tighten the bolt and the soft aluminum washer gets crushed and leaks over time
