If you had to choose.....

If you had to choose between getting the Evo X again, would you do it differently? Or would you stick to the same options you chose originally. Or would you venture off into another car altogether?

Im contemplating on getting the 15' GSR fully Loaded minus a sunroof for my fiance. However she is contemplating a 15' Mustang GT Fully Loaded, which seems to be a few grand cheaper then a fully decked out EVO X GSR. Weigh out your pro's and con's on your thoughts.

If you are getting a car for her I'd say Audi S3 is nice. If you are getting for the both of you I'd strongly consider the Focus RS, Golf R, or Final edition evo since I'd like the better ride with the Bilsteins.

Aside from being an AWD, can you state your Pro's vs Con's?

We stay away from German vehicles. As they age, so does their electronics, and those dont come cheap without warranties these days haha

The trick is to trade in within 3 years. I figure your significant other would enjoy the german interior quality on the Audi, Benz, VW. The high brand boring exterior will keep dudes away where as the evo/ musatang are dude magnets which will get attention on her. Just something to think about.

For me, there was no logical decision in comparing the Evo X to anything other than the STI, which after having 2 WRXs, the (then) new STI was no where near the level of fun as the Evo X. NASIOCers beat themselves to death with terms like, "practical", "daily", "value", screw all of that it's an Evo, not a Corolla.

I actually plan on getting a second one, just trying to decide on color. It'll be an MR for sure, just to make it a little different.

Speaking of, only thing different I would have done, is the color black. I can't keep it clean ever, and this is the worst black color dirty. Tarmac Black doesn't look bad dirty, my MS3's black didn't look too bad, but the PB looks like a combination of rusty brown, grey ash dust 1 day after washing it.

Having come from a loooooong line of Mustangs I would humbly suggest for her to relax for a bit if she's dead set on the Mustang, and get a used 2015 when they inevitably hit the market. The average depreciation hit a Mustang takes in the first year of ownership is around 7000 bucks. I'd pay myself that to wait and get one that has that hit and then buy.

Having owned both, I would say get the EVO if she is a real 'driver' of a car. If she just likes to putz around the Mustang will be the better car for her because you don't have to work it as hard to get it to do entertaining things.

I think you should get a loaded Evo X GSR for now, and a few years later get a low mileage used 6th generation Mustang for your then wife.

The Evo I get is a 5MT GSR with the Sight and Sound package, Sunroof and Leather package, and Navigation package. If I can go back in time, I would skip the Navigation package and get a high end aftermarket head unit instead. The Rockford Fosgate system comes with the Sight and Sound package is extremely impressive. It's no Mark Levinson, but pretty close. I use it to listen to classical music, and the fidelity is really good.

I would add the 2015 Golf R, and Focus RS to the pot. The new Golf R hydraulic center clutch has finally improved and finally caught up to our over 10 year old systems. Sad but true.

The CLA45 would be a honorable mention due to the crappy drive train and terrific engine.

If I had to do it over again I would stay the same evo wise, bought new with SSS package and aero kit.. just no nav which with smart phones is not a big deal to me. Not going with evo I would look at a Audi S5.. love the look but euro cars like Evo LOL said can get expensive for sure.

Only thing I'd do differently is buy an MR to get the SST.

I like the new mustangs a lot. I can't say the same for the mustangs in 2008 when I bought my evo, so I never even considered one. But if I were shopping for a car right now (as in I already have my evo), the 2015 mustang would be top of my list.

The only thing I got in my evo that i didn't care for was the nav. I love the leather seats vs. cloth. I'm happy with the sunroof even though i could do without, and i'm happy with the 5-speed except when i'm doing 80 and pushing 4k rpm's. It really depends on your needs. I wanted a daily driver that could handle snow/ice, Mustangs can't. I had a 2014 GT before my evo and i liked it, but i like my evo more. The evo feels quicker and I can actually drive into a corner. The mustang has the power but you sit high and the suspension is terrible. The other thing i like is how some people have no idea what an evo is. Everybody and their mother has a mustang and knows what it is. I feel your pain though, my gf has been dead set on getting a mustang for a while.....but she still loves it when she can drive the evo. Oh, and no recaro's in the 15's......that's a big fail. I didn't have them in my mustang, i have them in my evo.....they are definately worth it.

Recently my girlfriend bought a 2012 Gt CS and she loves it to death but I tell you what, nothing makes her smile like when I hit full boost and fly out of a corner. I've owned mustangs and driven mustangs my whole life and not one of them has been more fun to drive than my evo.
If I could do it all again I would have gotten one with the aero package.
But honestly it's all gonna come down to her driving get style, does she just cruise around town or does she drive a performance car for it's purpose?
