2014 Evo vs 2015 Evo

Hello,

First off a little about me. I currently own a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. I got this car as I used to have a 2007 ZX6R that I got my speed on with. Well the bike is now gone and I am looking at the Evo as a daily driver here in Pittsburgh. I also used to have a Neon SRT-4 that made just over 400 WHP, and a 2001 Mustang GT with full bolt-ons (Never got it Dynoed). I love just about any car that is made to go fast around a track or in straight line.

Anyways why I became a member and started this thread....... I am about 120 miles away from driving down and buying a 2014 Evo X with 4,200 miles. I really want the Recaro Seats. I am worried though if 4,200 miles could have any serious problems such as poor break-in. CarFax is clean and 1 owner. This 2014 has Recaro Seats, Sight & Sound Package and I believe I could get it for $31,000. The 2015 is a base model Evo X with 6 miles and I could get into that for $33,484.

Also should I reconsider the 2015 WRX? I love the way the Evo makes power and the way it looks & sounds. The WRX seems behind it in every way besides Interior & arguably Reliability.

Thanks ahead of time. Your thoughts are appreciated.

It should be just fine and it still has plenty of warranty left!

Subaru is known for their fragile engine also doesn't have the driving precision like the evo. The evo has better driving feel and handles better like higher end sports cars. Drive both and you'd know what I mean. The similar specs but driving them the two cars is as different as your mustang compared to your srt4.

This. I'd hate not having HIDs.

I would have gone with the 14 but there was a mark up on new ones and insurance would have been more. I would have ended up paying at least $2k more just for the seats.

One last thing... The OEM Body Kit (Exterior Package) are you able to get it cheaper after market? Is it quality?

Definitely the '14. My buddy has a 2015 WRX and it doesn't even compare to the evo. He's already talking about trading it in after driving my car. Also where in Pittsburgh? I live in Carnegie and just picked up a white 2011 GSR.

OEM body kit is made with very high quality. I have seem the OEM one, Varis one, and Rexpeed "Varis-style" one side by side in person, and the OEM body kit's fit and finish surpasses Varis.

That kit, however, is very expensive and you cannot get it cheap. Varis, Chargespeed, and Voltex aero parts are about the same price, so if you don't get the OEM one coming with the car, you have many options.

One word though, these aero part we are talking about here are real aero parts that were air-tunnel tested. They function and they function very well. Whichever you install, make sure you mount it as strongly as possible. Aerodynamic engineering is scary stuff. If a part breaks lose on a race track, it's going to be something like the Space Shuttle Columbia (like in this video:
).

Yup. I think history is going to judge the 2014 Evo GSR as the true final edition of the Evo. I got my 15 and I'm happy as can be since I daily mine and I did not find the Recaros very comfortable. But, from an ultimate sports car type of perspective, the '14 is the best iteration hands down.
