"Mod-Friendly Dealerships"

After attempting a search about what it means to be a mod-friendly dealership, and identify which ones are, I came across this. Though it does specifically apply to the dealership I got my X from, it also applies much more generally to Mitsubishi dealerships, and probably other manufacturers as well.

I'm posting this in the X area because they are the ones most likely to still have some type of warranty.

This is great inside knowledge I already knew some of it like if the mod didn't directly affect the part they had to replace, but the insider bit about how they report claims Is interesting. I work for medical claims and deal with similar ****.

If a customer adds a downpipe to their car, and 6 months later they have a bad catalytic converter that is more than enough reason for a manufacturer to deny the claim. But lets say then 2 years later they have a bad valve spring. There’s really no reason that a downpipe could cause that. So it’s likely that this could be covered under warranty.
I take this with a grain of salt. Once Mitsubishi Motors North America notices you have performance mods on the car, especially if you have an aftermarket tune, they will red-flag your VIN after denying the warranty repair.

After your VIN is red-flagged, any future warranty repairs will become tremendously more difficult to have MMNA's approval.
