Evo x good second car?

Not sure if this is the right thread but I'm curious about your opinions.

I'm 21 years old and am now looking to upgrade from my Kia soul I've been driving since I was 16.

I'm in a position in my life where I can afford my dream car since I can remember and maintain in properly but is it too much of a jump from my soul? I'm willing to put in the effort if there's a tough learning curve. I know I have self control. I'm a very conscious driver. Never drive agressively.

My Kia soul is an automatic so this will also be my first manual but I do know how to drive a manual due to my mom having a manual car.

Tell me what you think guys!

I don't regret one race car purchase I've made.

I regret several basic car purchases though.

Life is short, swing for the fences.

I went from an 05 camry and had no problems at all, it super fun! If you have a DD I say go for it what are you waiting for you will def not regret it. Keep in mind the service costs are much more expensive so don't be surprised if you spend a good bit in maintenance. Have fun dude report back with some pics!

you'll be fine, read up on here as much as you can to learn about the car. if you want to mod, do so cautiously. if you are handy with a wrench and have some tools doing your own maintenance can save you big.

Sure why not? As long as you are not struggling to afford it then go for it. And dont forget about the insurance!

I work out of town so I commute with my 01 civic. I drive the evo whenever I'm not working. It's my first time owning 2 vehicles and I never want to have just one ever again. It's nice knowing that if anything goes wrong with one, I can rely on the other.

I was planning on selling my civic but insurance wasn't bad so I kept it. Do it if you can afford it.

Going from a Kia Soul to an Evo is a big jump in terms of everything (price, insurance, performance, maintenance, etc.) Just make sure you not only have money for the monthly payments for it, but also for any unexpected repair expenses. Driving-wise you'll get the hang of it and it's not a difficult car to drive. Because the car has such great handling, it'll actually feel like your a better driver driving it.

If you do decide to buy one, take your time looking for a clean unmodded one. It'll be worth it in the end. It took me nearly a year to find a clean one with the price I was looking for. G'luck!

I plan on keeping my kia it's fantastic on gas, and surprisingly has a lot of back seat space. Plus insurance on it is dirt cheap.

You can take a crash prevention course and in addition to that, a high performance driving course (if offered in your area), so you will drive the Evo safely for the years to come.

Young age does not equate the lack of experience, nor does old age equate the experience to qualify. Much of the experience people talk is nothing but having done things the wrong way over and over again. Only learning and knowledge empowers you to make the right decision every time.

Go for it! I bought my first evo ( VIII ) when I was 19 and have an X now which both are a blast. As long as you don't drive recklessly you will be good. My suggestion is to get to know the car before stepping up the aggressive driving and you will definitely love the car without a doubt

Having two cars can be pricey, I regret not daily driving my first evo. Just buy a MR with the sst trans and there is plenty of backseat space in the evo. Sell the Kia and use the money as a down payment. Everyone's different and that's just my opinion. Both cars are going to depreciate, you may not feel it now but once you go to sell it you'll be like damn wtf.

Having 2 cars and using the Evo as a weekender is the greatest thing I've ever done. The Evo is always clean, I drive it when I want, I have a Civic for when I don't want to drive the Evo and even though I'm 21 the insurance on my Civic and Evo together is about the same as what the Evo would be as my primary driver. Not to mention I save money on maintenance and gas. As long as you can afford the Evo, do it!!!

Honestly the Evo itself to get upfront is pretty cheap, and definitely affordable.

The only thing that puts things in question is the addiction to modding, and the maintenance expenses that follow afterwards. Just definitely do research on maintenance expenses, because maintenance on an Evo and a kia soul is night and day though I would assume that would be obvious.
