Knocking front suspension

Lately I've noticed at slow speeds, I am hearing a knocking from the front left of the car when I hit bumps (parking lot speeds).

It sounds like something is loose, though, I had the car up on the lift and saw nothing that looked to be the culprit. I checked the front suspension out, and all is tight. I even attempted to tighten the nut that holds the strut insert in and its as tight as it will get.

Anyone have any incite? Is there anything common that causes this? It wasn't that bad a few thousand miles ago, but its getting worse and getting kind've annoying.

Bump. Any ideas? I'm at a loss and it is quite prominent.

Knocking front suspension

What suspension you have?
Lowering spring seems to make the stock shocks knock somehow. I heard those knocking sound on both kyb and bilsteins shocks.
I had those knocking sound before and they were completely gone after I went coilovers.

I have Eibach lowering springs.

I'm not sure how long they have been in there as they were on the car when I got it...but, this has started in the last 1000 or so miles and has gotten progressively worse.

Its loud enough you'd think something would be noticeably loose.

But I've had the problem with my BMWs before...the top nut coming loose and letting the strut rattle inside the housing. But I checked the nut and its tight...

Are your endlinks nice and tight? Does it have an aftermarket swaybar that might need some grease?

The strut is not blown. Rides and handles perfectly.

And I have not checked the sway bar links...hmm. That is stock though.

I have it too. I didn't notice it until recently. I had an alignment done at 26k and started hearing it. I haven't checked but I'm guessing end links may be the culprit.

My car is stock and only has 3500 miles and I can tell there's a little clunk on one side when I hit speed bumps. I go over them very carefully but I can still tell it's there.

I and a few friends of mine all have this sound (all with eibach springs) we believe it might be the strut top hat. I bought one just haven't had a chance to install it to know if it is in fact the top hat.

I think it is 'normal'. For some reason when driving down my parking garage my car sounds 'clunky' but it's only when going downhill and over speedbumps. I added it to list of 'strange evo noises I can't explain but **** still seems to be running normally' list.

I'm going to look at it a little more tonight.

That's the thing, though, is if it's nothing to worry about I don't really care. Haha. I just don't know if it's an issue.

When it does it I can actually feel it in the floor as well so it's kindve a hard say.

What has me concerned is that it seems to be happening more (like I can hear it when hitting bumps at speed now). At first it was only at parking lot speeds.

Knocking front suspension

I only heard it when I am driving at very low speed. And like you said, you can actually feel it through floor or pedals.
It knocks constantly at rolling speed. I never had a problem with the anything though. Car performs well and nothing is wrong.
I don't think nothing would go wrong if you leave it like that.
I have taken my front struts apart and inspect, lubed every possible moving part again and again, they all looked fine. And after putting them back on, they still knock.

I couldn't take the sound anymore and decided to go baller and get coilovers. Everything is quiet now.

Got that problem and went to several dealers to find out a year later it was my shocks that were dead.... my dealer knew it but didnt want to honor the garantee. Filled a complaint and got em changed. Car now runs perfect!
