I miss the ruggedness of my EVO and just how much fun that turbo was to spool and blast around town. I'd enjoy owning another one someday as a toy, but not so much a DD. The M has been great as a DD, even though it's equally crappy on gas mileage and yes, the maintenance does cost a fortune compared to the EVO. The luxury aspect is a no brainer, the DCT transmission is more manageable in traffic, and the boot is bigger! It just depends on what you're wanting out of a car like these. If you want a powerful DD that has a lower profile and is fun for the whole family, get the M.

LOL. You shouldn't bother as all of us here clearly know that a stock M3 will kill stock Evo's on the track. That's not the statement.

Why don't we start with an Evo with enough mods to hit the stock M3's $65 to $70 G price tag against the stock M3.

The m3's look is always classy to me and nothing much can compare.

I spent two grand all in on modifying my EVO MR and it is very fast now and handles like it's from another dimension. I wouldn't hesitate saying my car would keep up with an M3 with the exception of any super long straightaway where it would probably pull away on the high end.

Like that matters.

Seriously, the AWD in the evo is scary good.

if you asked me then I'll say get the X, screw the M. Back in 2005, some of my friends got the M. About 6 years later they all had issues that cost arm and leg to fix, and they got bored of it too, eventually none of them have the M anymore. I'm still driving my Evo. It's still good.

Beside the look-at-me-I'm-driving-a-beamer, I didn't see any performance significant than the evo that worth feeling good about. And when I have upgraded parts, turbo, 91/e85 tuned, those Ms performance are simply outclassed.

My clutch may need to be replaced soon. It should cost me total about $1600 if I want another twin-plate. $1600 will not get you a clutch in BMW. I like the M3 but I learned from my friends some of the dark side of it. Driving those cars, most will have to bring the car to the dealer when it needs services. My friend brought the car in for changing the battery and got rape with almost $900 bill because they needed to run the routine diagnosis which is a requirement. It's outrages.
