Evo x mr problem
Are you driving your car in S Sport manual mode? If not, you should be. Then you would have complete control over the gear you are in and should be able to react to things better than the transmission that only knows to shift based on throttle or braking...
Don't notice that issue myself, but I drive in S Sport manual all the time to preserve the longevity of my clutch packs.

- When you are driving along in normal mode, puttering around, and you decelerate, the shift from 6th to 5th feels almost like it slightly pulls you backwards when it is downshifting?
If yes, that is normal. The SST slows the car a tiny bit to match the speed for the transmission (or at least that is what it feels like). This is noticed more, the more the clutches are slipped to make things smooth. In normal mode, the clutch packs are slipped a great deal so you can really feel this transition the most in that mode, and honestly it feels weird to me since I drive in S Sport manual all the time.
Now you can certainly drive in normal mode as much as you like. But you will be replacing your clutch packs much sooner than someone that only drives around in S Sport mode. Also it is much harder on the clutches when you are in normal mode, and really punch it, as opposed to S Sport mode. Just something to think about.
