Hi,

I tried to reading directly from the Canbus from my EVO X GSR with a Arduino Uno R3 + Sparkfun Canbushield from the OBD2 Port Line 6(CAN-H) + 14(CAN-L).

The initialisation of the Canbus-shield works (CAN Init: OK), but dont get any Message. I'm reading the message over the Serialport Monitor.

I tried exactly this Tutorial:

I have also tried my Arduino Uno with my OBD2 ELM327 Unit and i can read without any issue RPM, Speed.....

Any idea whats wrong? I used exactly the Code in the Tutorial and i also disabled Message filtering.
Did someone else tried to sniffing the Canbus with Arduino and SParkfun Canbusshield?

Consider getting the Torque[tm[ app or DashCommand[tm] app - since you already have the dongle and the apps work well with a smart phone...

I already have a OBD2 Displayunits to see all information, but i want to read it directly over the Canbus with my Arduino. I want to build a Speed/RPM/TPS based Exhaust control Valve system in my EVO.

It already works with my Arduino+ELM327 OBD2 Library, but i want a little bit more and want to understand how Canbus sniffing works and what else i can do with it :-)

 

You already know more about that stuff than I do - sorry.
