Bumping an old thread. Anyone have luck getting this warrantied? Hood vent is missing paint too and one dealer denied me on it. Mitsubishi dealers aren't all that common anymore.

I ended up just buying a can of black plastidip to fix mine. Much cheaper than buying a carbon fiber replacement, even though I would have preferred that option. Turned out better than I expected and matches the other black vents giving a nice contrast on apex silver.

Thanks. I think I want something a bit more permanent.

Anyone know if I can drive around with the center scoop removed? Wanted to get it painted, and still drive the Evo. Bad idea?

Anyone know if I can drive without the hood vent installed on my car? Or will I run the risk of blowing the welds on my intake? Come on!

Captain, if you pull the scoop, you'll see that the under-hood sound deadener/insulation will be exposed. It's probably not the best to drive around with it getting pushed down / stressed or getting soaking wet if it rains. If you take that off as well, I would think you should be ok for a little while.
