so ironically i had been searching here for the past week or so as well as safecar.gov & other placed for recalls on the 2008 GSR's

- i finally got the dreaded timing chain indicator light this morning while driving to work. pulled over turned the car off made sure nothing else was noticeably wrong with the car & started it back up with no indicator until i pressed the info button, which prompted the warning light to pop back up.

anyway a couple people have told me there is an actual recall for the 08 GSRs but i havnt been able to find anything, help would be appreciated before i call up local dealers & get the run around.

 

I was just at the dealer for the pump recall. The service manager actually gave me a list of the recalls out for the X (08 anyway). Nothing about the chain on there.

 

The 08-10 had issues with timing chains that would stretch. Get it changed asap, I'd tow it if it were me. Good luck.

 

yeah i did the pump a while back & didn't see anything on the print out.

I heard this is an issue on 08+ models, anyone know if this is the case on 2012+ ?

 

No any 2011+ does not have this issue.
