I own both a 2011 sti hatch and a 2006 Evo 9. I daily my sti more than the Evo because it is more comfortable. Both cars perform almost identical with the torque going to the sti for stop light to stop light travels. The space is there, for me at least. The Evo handles tons better, but city driving, there's no need for fast handling when you have a new born in the backseat.

If you are looking for a raw track far the Evo is the car for you. I've never had any issues with my sti. No engine or any of the other stuff people have mentioned that broke on their sti. I must also mention, I don't mod my cars. Both my sti and Evo are stock minus a catback on the Evo. Take it from me, find out what you really want, do you want a track car or a family mover? Also, are you planning on modding the car? Little power, lots power? If lots, just go Evo, it is more reliable. Both can handle small power upgrades, after that start saving up for a new sti motor.

An MR might be what your looking for. Just make sure the trunk is big enough for all your family items.

I came over from the Subaru world. Don't get me wrong, they do have a tad bit more space with folding rear seats, and the light to light power is definitely there, but the Evo X is a more balanced car. I'm 29 and have an 8 year old and 22 month old. There's more than enough room for them both to fit and still have my stroller in the rear when we take her on out on ultra long day trips. Can even squeeze in a few bags of groceries if we're smooth about it.

I have an SE myself, which has the SST transmission. I absolutely LOVE it. I thought I would hate forgoing a manual, but this thing is so much fun to drive out on the backroads. Just a flick of the paddles and I'm always in the right gear. I've have 3 different STI's and just as many WRX's. Neither of them felt this planted in stock form. The Evo just HUGS the turns even on the stock MR suspension. By far the most fun car I've owned so far. It's the ultimate "soccer dad" sedan.

But those doesn't even know me or listen what I say. I def. think the Evo is a better and more reliable car . But not the practical one for sure between these two.

For DD I might say the Golf R would be my ultimate choice. They can be made also very very fast a same time.

they can be really very easily an ego killer for many Subaru and Evo guy

it is not the best video by far, but its funny how quickly the guy face changes when he gets in the the Evo on the race track. Priceless

Best case scenario: you buy Evo, your kids think you're a badass. You feel like a badass. Your wife thinks you're a badass. Worst case scenario: you buy Evo. You love the car. Your kids love the car. Your wife gets mad at you. You still own an Evo, so its not soo bad!
Basically, if you can afford it, get the Evo!

42 years old, have a fourth and first grader. Been driving Evos for 12 years. Man up and get it. It's a great performance car that moves your family well!

Get the evo and get something else for a DD with kids. I have a 3 year old and a 1 year old. I take them for a ride once in a while for fun but there is nothing practical or even sensible about a DD evo with young kids. I also have a huge truck for kiddie transporting. Much more comfortable. Maybe the mr is better suited but I wouldn't know, I own a gsr.

Just bought a 2015 MR and I love it. Ive owned 2 evo 8's. A slightly modded 2005 and a 400 wheel E-85 2003. I miss them both and so do the kids. Took a 5 year break from the evo scene. I had a 2008 civic si a 2007 gti and a 2013 dodge ram 1500. I loved the SI but it was to small for my 2 daughters on long trips. The gti also to small. So was tossing the idea of getting an Evo X one day a few months ago and to my surprise the wife was in! She even whent as far to say she missed my 03 evo!!! Da fuq that never happens. So we hit up the smart car ap built a 2015 MR got approval and of to Concord mitsu we whent. The wife got to test drive it first and she was in love! She never drove the kther car cause of the 6 puck unsprung ACT clutch she hated. Anyway fast forward a few months and im stuck driving her 2013 Durango RT most days lol! As for the kid we have a 2yr old and the car has all the nice harness attachments for the recaro baby seat I bought lol and it does well for a DD and it also does some nasty AWD drifts when you go super sport and AYC brake full off. LOVE this car man and guaranteed you will also!!! GET IT!!! Also I paid 42K off the lot with 12miles on it and my insurance whent up 40 bucks a month.
