HELP: Returning LEASE

I leased a 2014 GSR with the intention of buying it at the end of lease. Long story short, plans changed and I now have to return it back to mitsubishi. Of course I modded the **** out of it but I finally managed to make it look factory STOCK **EXCEPT**

I have a MR trunk with lip spoiler instead of a GSR Trunk with Spoiler (couldn't stand the wing/decreased rear view mirror vision). The Trunk is OEM/factory paint and in excellent condition.

Do you guys think the dealer will RAPE me for this? I spoke to a fleets manager and he said it should be fine as long as there are NO holes, dents, or scratches.

Bottom line i dont trust the dealership.

BTW the trunk is also debadged.

be gentle with the flame

The car belongs to the finance company, not the dealership. So, as popular as dealer bashing around here is, the dealership will not be doing any "raping". They simply inform the bank that the car has been returned, then the bank sends an independent company to go out to the dealership and inspect the car for damage and originality, said company bills you for any excess wear and tear, and aftermarket equipment. Then the bank sends out a truck to pick up the car and send it to auction to be sold.

It's technically a year old. It would be worth that same amount in another 3 years too. They hold value pretty well.

Carmax are crooks and Subaru was looking at it as a tradein so they could turn around and sell it for 30-32k.

So you could sell it privately for around 32 if you really wanted to...

i doubt they will even notice the trunk thing unless you bring it up. I would think the guy inspecting the car is just looking for damage more then anything.

Yeah you'd have to be an EVO aficionado to realize you had switched the trunk...

You should put the badging back on. Missing emblems is going to draw attention to the trunk, at which point they may notice the spoiler is different.

Use tape to make a straight line for them to line up against and a laser level if you have it and then reference pictures online

pre-line them up without actually sticking them to the car (use like a dab of peanut butter) mark their position when you are happy with it, then carefully put them on one at a time.

Good luck!
