Trade my MR for a GSR?
Trade my MR for a GSR?
So I have a 2011 MR with 20,000 miles on it. I'm the second owner (I got the car with around 8000miles on it) and love the car to death. However, I really want to get the car in the 500-600whp range and I'm not sure if I should keep the MR or try to sell it/trade it for a GSR with similar mileage.
The car has the following mods, but I'd probably strip them and put it back to stock if I was gonna sell it so I didn't have to repurchase all the same mods over again.
ETS Wideband Bung
ETS Air Intake
ETS Race Test Pipe
ETS Recirculated Downpipe
ETS Quiet V2 Cat-Back Exhaust
DW65c 265lph Fuel Pump / Install Kit
Injector Dynamics 1000cc Injectors / PnP Harness
GM 3-port Boost Control Solenoid / PnP Harness
Whiteline Control Arm Bushings
Whiteline Roll Center Kit
Swift Sport Springs Spec-R
I really don't know what to do, and I'm not going to rush into any specific decision, but figure I should post her and try to get some feedback on what would be the best option in the long run.

Is this your primary vehicle? I have an MR and I absolutely love it. I have the kozmicmotorsports 10 disc clutch pack upgrade and it will be getting a turbo kit in the next month or so. The only issue I see with the MR is launching a large turbo. Until they crack the TCU launching the MR on a large turbo will be an issue. Other than that the lightning fast, full throttle upshifts make this an amazing car to drive. Just keep it pinned and flick the paddle. Typically I gain about a half a car on the shifts with an equal manual trans car next to me.

I love the Evo in general. I don't really care if it's a GSR or MR. I actually live within 2 hours of Kozmic so I'd probably go to them for the work if I decide to beef up my tranny. I just don't wanna put thousands of dollars into my MR and then regret not just swapping for a GSR before throwing money at it. And yes, it is my primary vehicle. However, I deploy in June for 9 months and I'll probably get a beater to drive once I get back and save up some money.
I got a GSR and love it. I would never get a MR unless it was my DD. The GSR would suck as a DD. But i got the GSR because i knew i was going to get another car. So i say.. go GSR if you can afford a reliable DD.
I DD my GSR for about a year but I ended up getting another car to save milage because I drive so far to work. But I guess it really just depends what kind of traffic you would have to deal with if you DD the GSR. If I got stuck in gridlock everyday I would prolly opt for the MR but usually my path to work is pretty easy going.
