Build or Sell 2008 GSR
Hi All
Not trying to be a troll but just seeking some honest advice. Prefer it be from people who kept their Evos or moved on.
I have a 2008 GSR SSS with 106,000 miles on it. Much of those miles are highway miles from when I traveled a lot. Car is bone stock accept EBC pads and stainless brake lines.
I've done the serpentine belt and pulleys, as well as timing chain and clutch cylinder (recall). Always professionally maintained and ran on Amsoil and Mobile1 filters. Always washed regularly and garage kept.
Thing is I'm sure the clutch will need to be replaced sooner than later (dealership states its fine), as well as the AWC pump since so many of those have been replaced.
I cant really find a replacement I like accept another Evo, STi, or maybe wait for the Ford RS a year or two when all the hype calms down.
What have some of you done? Kept it and built it? Or sold it with no regrets?
Any thoughtful comments based upon experience is appreciated -
Thanks

And thanks for the comment. I've looked at the FE but the 40,000 dollar price range is a little steep......
I've been back in an X for almost 3 years and loving it. Nothing to me really can replace it for the money. My 08 was getting a little on in miles and years, so I got this 2013.
I think you could get an FE for $37k pretty easily. Probably $34k for a regular 2015.
I'm not saying your 08 can't be great, but if you love the X and swap into a newer one, you'll have it last a lot more years.

Haha the Ford dealer near me has been allocated two but they're both spoken for. He even told me to wait a year for things to calm down, which is what I did when I bought my WRX. And in O3 they had fixed a couple bugs the 02 model year had.
Tough choice for me. Keeping my 08 GSR and start to put money in it which isnt unreasonable as I've seen VIII and IX around here that are built, clean, and running well but I'm sure those guys have put a pile a money into them.
A new X would be nice but I might have to finance another 20,000.
And a Ford RS would be bad*ss from what I've read but I don't know anyone that has driven one.
Neither have HUD from what I can see which is a bit of a disappointment but to be honest I'm not usually looking at my speedo vs listening to the engine and radar detector

The rs is expensive and looks very juvenile compared to the gsr plus you own the gsr. For the price differential you can have a gsr making 400hp no problem and have a great deal of history and support.
Mileage doesn't really matter if you take care of the car and do the proper maintenance. My 2008 GSR just hit 80k miles it still looks as good as the ones on the show room floor. Washed every week, waxed every month. I use high quality oil and fluids. Car is making 355whp and doesn't skip a beat. Soon to be making 500whp in the coming month.

Things age even with taking good care of it. All my cars are garaged and babied. I still get weary when time or miles accrue.
