From an IX to an X- New Owner

Decided to part ways with my Evo IX and step into an X. Ended up selling it with 33,000 miles.

Just picked up this 2014 GSR with 14,000 miles. Mods are:
AMS catback exhaust
ETS test pipe and O2 dump downpipe
ETS intake
ETS frount mount intercooler
Synapse blow off valve
ID 1000cc injectors
Deutsch works 65c fuel pump.
It also has AEM air fuel ratio, oil pressure, boost, and oil temp gauges housed in a CPE performance pod.

Congratulations. May I ask, why the change? Your IX looks very nice.

I originally sold the IX as I am relocating to Long Island, NY this summer. Wanted to save some money for the move. It has been gone for two months and I went through withdrawls as my 15 Corolla was not cutting it Decided to just say screw it and get something new. Loved my IX but the technology in the X seems a lot more impressive. Interior is great, I like the body style a lot more, and it's just very advanced compared to the IX I feel. A lot more suitable for daily driving and taking trips. This will not be a garage queen.

liking the body style is subjective I find the ct9a style kicks the cz9a's butt haha but that explains why you mainly traded since the ix is more to maintain. I'd NEVER trade my ix for a brand new x even. it's just way more rare lets not forget the 8/9 was never offered In Canada bringing it's rarity and resale value to almost twice as much as the x. I'm seeing x's being sold with 20k miles for as much as an ix would go with 80k miles. lets also not forget production the x was on the line for almost a decade. whereas the ix? one year lol (minus the very few 07 models not offered in te US)

I have a IX SE and a X GSR. Both are amazing cars that I love for different reasons. I think you'll throughly enjoy the X but find that you'll miss some characteristics from the IX.

In terms of rarity its not a question and even resale. I sold mine for 28,000 and it was MINT. In terms of daily driving, which is what the X will be, I think the X is a lot easier to drive everyday. I will always love the 8/9 for what it truly is. It's like an E46 M3 in the BMW world. Feels like a true sports car. But if you were to compare an F80M in terms of daily driving to an E46 the F80 wins hands down. I'm just using it for DD status right now. If it were up to me I would have a low mileage WW Evo 9 in my garage.

UMS 91 pump tune.. which I already dislike. My 9 was on E85 and a lot more responsive.
Debating if I want to keep it on 91 or do E85. Problem is I plan on driving it up north and to cali once in a while before I move and not sure the availability of E85.

Why do you dislike it? UMS did my 91 pump tune and made 360whp and 360wtq at 25psi. Responsive as hell. Completely stock fuel system. Love my 91 tune. Making the switch to E85 shortly with some other upgrades. I plan on having UMS do a completely tephraV3 flex fuel setup on my car once available

Going from 398 to 355 is quite a difference. My 9 pulled a lot harder. I will most likely keep the 91 tune for a little and see how it goes. I might just be salty because I really did love the 9.

Well yeah, my IX made 450/400 and pulled like a freight train. Doesn't help that the X is a lot heavier than the IX. You'll need around 450whp to make your X feel like the IX did at 390. My X should be at 500whp in the coming month. One simple mod I did to make the X feel like the IX was a rear sway bar. Made a huge difference
