I agree. Putting exhaust or intake components on but then avoiding a tune seems counter productive. You are likely increasing the chance of a failure to where you will need to invoke your warranty. I would rather be tuned and more reliable, than have bolt ons and increase the chance that I have to take the car in under warranty. At that point you are still running the risk that they will deny you coverage based on your bolt ons.

People manage to make it work, odds are you won't be visiting the dealer for anything major to the point of them wanting to heavily figure out everything you've done to your car whether it's a mod you can see or the tune (though don't get me wrong they can easily find out of looking); I've brought a tuned car to the dealer

But a dealer's a dealer, aka always gonna be a pain in the ***. Once my motor mount bushing went bad, I knew this for a fact based on the way the car was responding, and they said they checked all the mounts and everything is fine, and that potentially my intake made the noise I described...I upgraded the mount myself instead and the bushing did in fact have a tear in it

All in all I try my best to never ever ever bring my car to the dealer if need be, just take it to trusted shops and learn to do all the other things yourself

KINGROB,

To each their own but I just think you should just enjoy the car STOCK instead of getting into the mods. I have a friend of a friend who works at the Mitsubishi dealership here and he gives me a great hookup on parts/service when I need it. We talked about modding and when I told him I didn't have plans to mod my Evo, he was basically ready to give me a hug because he said you wouldn't BELIEVE how many people buy Evos, mod them with only 5,000 - 10,000 miles on the odometer, f**k them up and then bring them back for SUPER EXPENSIVE repairs. There is a popular phrase that you see on many of these threads about mods. That phrase is, "You gotta PAY if you want to play". That means that if you want to do mods, you:

1. Need to buy reputable parts and not cheap sh*T and also take your car to a reputable tuner.
2. Need to have $$$ to pay for the increased wear and tear on the vehicle.

You just bought a shiny new 2015 GSR so WHY would you risk voiding the warranty when the car has not even reached its first oil change? As I said before, "to each their own". I just want you to think about the financial costs associated with tuning a car before doing it.

Yeah my dealer told me I can do whatever I want except for an open source tune...so they suggested I get a V3 and upload a protune to that so if I need warranty work I can flash back to stock.

This!! The dealer will always blame any mod even if it has nothing to do with what's actually wrong.... Dealer Instaled timing belt on my Evo 8 180 deg outa phase and blamed it on my high flow cat haha fffffffffffeeeeeeeeeecccccccccckkkkkk uuuuuuuu
