2015 Evo FE random start issues
2015 Evo FE random start issues
I have had a couple of instances were I go to start my car and it wouldn't start right away. After like a couple of cranks then it would. Not sure if the weather has something to do with it since its been pretty cold here in central NY. I am thinkin of callin the dealer to see if they can check to see why that is happening the car is stock everything and it has happen to me a couple of times even like couple of weeks after purchasing is any one else experience this.
It sometimes happens to my 2014 MR.
Most of the time it happens when it's really cold out and the car is left outside for long hours, but when it's warm/hot, no issues.
Went to the dealer to check the battery, but they said it is holding a good mount of juice.
Since spring/summer is approaching, will keep using the stock battery up until coming fall, but going to make a switch to a new battery right along when winter arrives gain.

I haven't started mine in a couple months now, but it's been on a Battery Tender the entire time, so hopefully I won't have any surprises come spring/summer.

That's so funny... i swear to god i thought i was the only one with this problem with my 2014 gsr so i did not even mention it on the forums. Sometimes when i park on a little incline my car has trouble starting... It cranks but after like 7sec and then me stopping and starting it again. .. Stupid evos...
Yea my 2011 GSR did this same thing as well, it would crank and not start then I would wait a few seconds and then it would work just fine so I just left well enough alone... my mitsu dealer here is also a chevy dealer so there kinda dumb..
Yea, that's why after searching the forums I didn't find anything concerning this so I decided to post this thread I will keep you guys updated on what the dealer tells me what the cause could be
My '15 Ralliart does the same thing. Very intermittent (may happen once or twice every few months) and of course, no codes. Unless a dealer can recreate it, you're going to end up with a no fault found diagnosis unfortunately. Been dealing with it since new and I have no mods.
From what I've found, most evo/ralliart guys just ignore it since it doesn't occur that often and there isn't any other driveability issues. I think the best bet would be to have the dealer call their Tech Line and see if they have any known fixes.
I'm almost wondering if the car is either not getting enough fuel during cranking (occasional fuel pump check valve failure or ECM failing to turn on the fuel pump) or perhaps overfuelling during cranking, especially since it usually only happens on a cold soaked engine. You'd almost need to monitor fuel pressure during cranking and injector duty cycle when the long crank occurs.
Definitely an annoying, yet so hard to diagnose issue I'm afraid.
