Self rev.

Fully warmed up, make a quick pit stop... come out, fire up the car.. pull up ten yards, come to a stop sign..clutch in..brake..right before I go to neutral weird revs. Car is stopped and it is going from a hair under 1k to about 1300. Up and down..over and over.. throw it in neutral..stopped still..same thing. Happened just once and lasted maybe 5-10 seconds. Odd occurrence. Shifts fine, didn't happen again. Is my clutch going?? Thanks for the thoughts, gentlemen.

Doesn't sound like a clutch thing. Do you have an intake or anything?

Maybe small vacuum leak. I have had that happen on another car in the past. Was a hairline gap in the throttle body.

What a relief. Thanks. No mods at all. Bone stock. I know from new the car has had a slightly odd idle at times. It would want to completely just die.. it wouldn't actually ever happen but at red lights sometimes it would drop below 500rpm and I can feel it bog and almost want to shut down.

Interesting. Thank you. I'll keep the forum posted. I just hate the dealers service dept. Not good at their jobs.

I would pop open the hood and take a look at all your vacuum lines to make sure you don't have any of them fall off.. I forget which one but if you google it there is one that is notorious for blowing off.

Haha that's what I am doing. I rechecked today and everything looks normal.. from a novice's eyes. Drives fine too. Anything to keep me away from the dealer. lol. Thanks for the help though!

Mine use to do it once in a while (when stock). Caught me by surprise at first. Pretty sure most have experienced it at one point. IIRC someone stated it had something to do with the factory tune. Definitely not the clutch though.

Thanks for the second opinion. Yeah, caught me by surprise too. My biggest fear was the clutch, but I know I don't beat on it so I was a little surprised. Appreciate the feedback.

All 4 of my evos including my FE do this, stock or tuned. Nothing to get excited about. Interestingly, the Cobb map raises the idle to 900rpm, presumably to deal with this issue, and still I get a fluctuation.

Oh wow. Thanks. Very interesting. The super low idle is weird to me. Didn't know a tune raised it. Thanks!

Happens to me fairly often, on multiple tunes as well. When I put the clutch in and the revs fall it's almost like it gets confused when it tries to idle. Bounces up and down a few times and then settles. I always just figured it was an Evo thing
