Turbo Help

Hey guys! Anybody running a Cavalli (stage 1, 2, 3) on an X? I was thinking of getting one... I really want a BB turbo! or should I just get an MHI 18k instead? Car is a DD with full bolt ons & stock internals. Not gonna track or drag the car.. Thanks in advance!

MHI-18k is a awesome turbo for the street. Spools similar to stock and makes a ton more power. A well setup one on E85 will get you near 500whp. If it's solely going to be a street car I would go 18k, they've proven to be great and no one has issues with them. The main reason I personally would not want to run the Cavalli stuff is they don't use OEM turbine housings. They use the replica housings and those have always had issues with cracking and having wastegate flapper failures over the years.

Agree with e_kobz. The MHI 18K has proven to be a great stock frame turbo, and should handily meet whatever goals you have for a street car.

Thanks guys! Wow! I didn't know cavalli didn't use OEM turbine housings! Thanks E_kobz! MHI it is then... U said it can do close to 500whp... Isn't that a little too much for stock block?! Sorry for the newbie questions but what can i say? I'm a newbie!

Do you need bigger injectors to run the MHI 18? Or just a bigger fuel pump?

For E85 you'd of course need bigger injectors.

Even for 93, you'd run out of room on stock injectors.

OP, the stock block is fine with 500whp, it's torque that kills it. As long as you've got a good tuner, you'll be fine. You don't NEED to make 500whp, it's just able to if you want to at some point lol.

Talk to your tuner honestly, as every dyno is going to read differently. The one who tunes you will know their hardware and your car the best!
