Just Bought A New 2014 - Question

Hey everyone, long time lurker here. I finally gave in and came to the dark side. Over the weekend I purchased a new 2014 GSR with S+S and 8 miles on the odometer that was left-over.

Since the car has been sitting for a while, I'm wondering if I need to replace all of the fluids and oil. I believe some manufacturers put a special type of oil in the car for the initial break-in process. Do I need to replace with this type of oil? Or should I just get the first service done a little earlier than normal? I'd hate to damage my brand new engine!

I believe most people change the trans , T-case and diff fluids early. It should be listed somewhere in your owners manual if that is in fact what Mitsu recommends. Either way, if it makes you feel at ease to put fresh fluids in the car then just change them. It's not that hard or expensive to change your engine oil, trans, T-case and diff fluids.
Nice find BTW! Leftover 2014 unmolested with Recaros FTW

Most will change the oil around 1000 miles, I did mine at 1200 and then I'm going to change at 3000 and every 3000 miles after that. I'm at 2200 and just did the trans fluid, it wasn't too bad but had quite a bit of metal in it. I don't think there is a need to change everything now, give it 1000 miles or so for break in then change it.

Thanks for the advice. I'll probably change all fluids between 500 and 1,000 miles. I guess I got lucky when I stumbled upon the car. I didn't think there were still some unsold 2014's out there.

Well the markup on them was insane down there at some dealers last year so I'm not surprised.

Congrats on the purchase!

Thanks, it's great to be back in a rally-bred car!

And I think you're right, the original window sticker still has the $11,300 Market Adjustment listed as an addition.

I went to South Coast (which is the same ownership as Cerritos). They only had two base 2014 GSR's left over in PB there, and my car which was located at Cerritos. I believe they also had a 2014 MR in WW at Cerritos.

I went there to look at the FE's, and once I sat in the Recaro's of the 2014 GSR back to back with the FE, I was sold!
