Soon to be Evo owner here

Just wanted to say hey/introduce myself. I originally planned on getting an Evo as my first car back in 2009, but I couldn't find one in my area that wasn't heavily modified. Fast forward 7 years later, and here I am.

I plan to own one soon, and I can't wait. I'm a long time lurker, and finally made an account. Seems like there's a lot of good knowledge here, so looking forward to soak it up.

Also, I'm new to driving stick, as my other cars have been automatic, so I'm looking forward to learning.

You are going to learn how to drive stick on an Evo? like you have literally never driven stick before? Thats a bold idea haha. Although once you master the Evo clutch you can drive any other manual no problem.

I drove stick once before, but I have the theory down. And I admit, it is bold but I have nobody to teach me locally, I couldn't even find driving lessons to pay for smh.

Yeah, go to Canada and by the GSR handling premium. Go back to the US and rub it in everyones face.

Lol.

In all seriousness, I just read a horror story from a guy on here regarding 800 miles of clutch abuse. Hoping that isn't me.😕

1. get your first oil change earlier than recommended
2. tranny flush earlier than recommended. some say doesn't matter. personally, i will be doing it at 6500km because i broke my engine in during the winter.
3. never launch the car.
4. if you are not changing gears dont have your foot resting on the clutch. put your foot on the floor.
5. don't floor the car in low rmp.
6. follow the break in guidelines.

If you are buying a new car, please consider installing RallyArmor mud flaps and Xpel Ultimate clear bra ASAP.

OP, can you please also look for some manual driving lessons available from a local driving school? It helps tremendously, I mean, in saving the clutch of your car.

Ordered some mudflaps 3 days ago, thanks to lurking lol.

Yes, I just got in from the gym so I will DEFINITELY do some research now on lessons! Thank you for the advice.

You can learn stick on the Evo, not a big deal at all. Catches a little high, and has a notchy shifter but other than that its no different than anything else.

Coming from a 3000gt Vr4 with no clutch booster, I can tell you driving the Evo is a cinch. If you take out the clutch booster on a 3000gt that thing literally becomes like an old school testarossa clutch

If you're learning to drive stick with an Evo, every gearbox will feel buttery smooth in comparison

Ugh.. I need a short throw and new fluid.
