Double sided tape and push in plastic tabs. Not much to it at all.

but you still have to get inside the fender liner right? Or can you push down on the tabs from the outside?

If you did that would be very easy to do. Fender liner is held in by like 6 push tabs and a bolt and would take 2 minutes to remove enough to reach behind it.

I was thinking about cutting out the middle portion of the stock black plastic trim piece, but I'm sure I'd butcher it and have it look like ***.

I would be undecided on whether to take them out or not. I like the Carbon Fiber ones better than the factory ones that are painted the same as the car. But the way cars are built these days they are probably held in by plastic push tabs.

I think the ideal way is to cut out the middle metal portion of the exposed vent.

Thats why "seriously". Details are that it is held on with double sided tape and plastic tabs and I pulled straight out without going through the wheel well lining. Thats more than 0 detail. Kind of hard to write more detail than that for something so simple.

I just pulled on the vents gently. I did not lift the car up, did not remove the fender lining to get to it. Just pull on the vent slowly and carefully.

lol, a dick? You're sensitive. I'll try to be nicer, sweetheart. I physically removed the vents myself. I did not go through the lining. OK? Great. Good luck buddy!
