Recaros from wrecked car
When I did the recaro swap into my 2015 gsr I removed the weight sensors/seat belts and put them in recaros because these are linked to your ecu's data or whatever. That means my lancer seats are useless and I cannot sell them.
Is it necessary to swap the seat belts too, or just the weight sensors? I thought you could reuse the seat belt buckles from the Recaros (assuming they came with them), but I haven't done the swap so I don't know.
Here's how I see it, when you strap on the belt and assuming you have a passenger also strapping the seat belt, the ecu should detect the same signal that came from your OE seat. By transferring both belt buckle/weight sensor to your recaros, the ecu still 'thinks' that it is still the OE seats and will not give you faults. When doing the weight sensor swap, you are already triggering a (weight under the seat light)fault after installation. When you bolt your assembled recaros and start your car the flashing seat belt light will flash (without a passenger ) but in my case the light went out the next day and will start working normally.
I would do both to be safe, that's what i did and no airbag light.
