Nothing in the manual states the factory fill isn't synthetic. After googling this, all I found was internet hearsay... Nothing substantiated the claim that Mitsu stopped using Mobil1 for factory fill.
The 2012 owners manual doesn't mention synthetic as being required (or to not use conventional oil), and neither does the 2013 owners manual.

So, it required synthetic in 2011. Zero changes were made to the engine/turbocharger for 2012 and newer, yet they no longer required synthetic. Cool. Have fun putting dino oil in your car.

No one said you should put conventional. Just backing up our statements of Mitsubishi no longer requiring it at some point.

Well, obviously 99% of this board will not use conventional.. But if you take your car to the dealer, just be aware, you may not receive a Full Synthetic oil change..

That being said, I'm sure most of us wouldn't go to the dealer anyway..

To end it all.
I would never use conventional oil on a evo.
I would never go passed 3000 miles on any oil. I dont care if its made by donald trump, and costs 80 bucks for 5 quarts.
I would never let my dipstick show signs of any black oil.
I would never use a fram filter on my evo.

Isn't the majority of Oil made in the same factories anyways, they just slap different names on them? I use Castrol Synthetic in mine, least that's what the my dealer uses on my car, not sure what the manual recommends.

Nobody is saying continue running conventional- I don't know any owner with a 2012+ Evolution that didn't move to synthetic since their first oil change.

That being said, it's far from Internet hearsay. Mobile1 is no longer factory fill after 2011, that's a fact. The car uses dino 5W-30 since that time. Dealerships even will put dino oil in them unless you request otherwise.

It's clearly a cost savings measure for Mitsu, because they didn't want to pay for Mobil1 anymore.

Rotella? Like that you can also get at Walmart or Autozone?
If you want to be a zinc snob, at least tout Brad Penn.

There's nothing wrong with Mobil1. There's tons of CT9A and CZ4A Evos that are daily driven as well as tracked, with healthy original engines and over 150k that have run only Mobil1.

I'd ask if you are opinionated, but your username already answered.

Isn't Brad Penn non-syn?

I religiously use Rotella T6 except for my recent swap to VR1 because it's on FP's recommended oils list. I don't mind swapping for warranty purposes (though I think all oils would work for me and have no idea how FP would know the difference). Once my turbo is past it's warranty date, I'll probably go back LOL.
