Please help me figure out this noise!
Hey Everyone. I have a 2010 Evo SE with 68k, I have had it for about a little over a year now. Ever since I have had the car I have had this sound randomly show up when I'm driving.
I have brought it to a few different dealers and no one could figure out what it was. The sound goes with the RPM so I don't think its the trans. My guess is something maybe belt driven? water pump? Any ideas are helpful, thanks everyone who can help!

You're on the right track. I'd suggest a cheap-o Harbor Fraught mechanic's stethoscope or a piece of vacuum hose held to your ear to narrow it down. There are a couple idler pullies, a tensioner pulley, the water pump, alternator, and A/C that all have bearings in them.
Sounds like a dry power steering pump or something related to the drive belt.
As stated above use a stethoscope or a garden hose works well. Have someone rev it while you listen to each spinning object on the belt. Narrow it down to the loudest part, conpressor, alternator, water pump, tensioner, idler pulley etc etc. Careful not to get your fingers in the belt.
