I've lost the factory drivability after a pro tune

I have been working with the tuner. 2 flashes later and it's much better. A slight hiccup once or twice but I can live with that. No backfire present now. I did do a 3rd gear pull after the second flash and kept an eye I my AF. It was up around 11.7. Seems high to me. It was around 11.3-11.4 with the initial tune with problems. I will be honest and say I haven't watched my AF much after the initial tune that was done a year ago. The AF stayed consistent and so I just stopped obsessing over it. Should I be concerned about 11.7 on 93oct? Also, how does an E-tuner adjust the parameters without knowing the air fuel ratio's? I have no way to log/record the AF without a hard line to the ECU. I could do it but sadly I don't have the time.

I'd tell your tuner about your concerns. 11.7 seems kinda high to me; that's e85 territory.
If you want a second opinion, hit up Gary Bains @ BainsTuned. He will get back to your right away. He can do an e-tune, seeing how you are on the east coast. That would require you to setup your own hardware/software.
Anyone doing e-tunes would require the same; you would need to datalog what your car is doing.

Unless your car is driving SPOOKY smooth, your tuner isn't doing the best job. Full boltons here and car is freaky smooth all over no jumps jags, backfires or issues other than more fuel used and more races won.

I contacted Bains last night. Surprisingly he got back to me within minutes. He was nice enough to take a look at the current file to see what he thought. I appreciate all the help this community give. You guys are A1✊
Not too bad of a problem. I would pick up an AEM UEGO and log AFR straight from the gauge's RS232 output. If your map is unlocked, I would try adding a LITTLE fuel in your fuel table in high load and rpm cells. That should bring your 11.7 to 11.4.

Gary was willing to take a look at my current tune. He's very quick to respond. After looking at my tune he determined he did see some areas of the map which can be tuned better, none of my temperature correction maps are done well either. The timing map could be much better, mivec tuning, boost control could be done better as well. I hope I can remotely tune with him. He put the efforts in without hesitation and that goes a long way in my book. I'm not sure if my innovate PSB-1 can be easily hooked up to my laptop to log. I may be getting my car remotely tuned👍
Thanks again guys!

You gotta do the whole serial-to-usb cable thing, most likely (as with most afr gauges, anyway. Yours may differ) . It's a pain in the ***, but worth it LOL. That will let you data log AFRs.

Sounds like you are not happy with your current tuner, plus yours is pretty simple bolts on. I will say go try Etune. One good thing about Etune is you can actually "understand" basic stuff plus most tuners will love to explain to you.

Just a little update. I did some of my own research on my problem and found a thread that discribed my problem to a T. It explained the changing over to speed density eliminates the issue. I forwarded the info to Gary. He did a couple maps for me and so far the issue is corrected. TBH I'm sure if he has changed the maps to SD but he's fixing it. Here's the post I found. Post #16. I'm so glad Gary is tuning my car.

It's weird that you had to convert to SD to fix a drivability issue. I don't think it solved your problem, so much as eliminated the original cause. Meaning it could have been fixed without the conversion.
But as long as it works? Who cares?
