New to the Community and Introduction
Hi everyone, my name is Christian and wanted to say hello. I just recently bought an Evo X FE the other day. I traded in my 2010 Ralliart, that Ralliart was used when I bought it, for it.
I'm also new to learning how to drive manual haha, but my dad and uncles all drove manual when they were young, so they are passing on the teachings. Anyone got some tips on driving manual? I could use some as I drive around my town for the next few days, till tackling highways/traffic for work. Being able to work from home has its benefits.
Hopefully you guys don't think I'm some young teen wanting to live the fast life haha. I really wanted to get an evo, it was a goal of mine since playing racing games when I was young. But now, I'm 24 with savings to finally afford one.
A little about myself, I'm a software engineer and studied computer science in college at NJIT. Any fellow programmers haha??
Buying this Evo FE was a huge hassle at the dealership and gave me some concerns, so that's why I decided to finally be a member here to post questions and be part of this awesome community.
So can you believe that this dealership branded this car as new, but demoed/test drove it till it had like 2300 milles before I bought it. And they also caused some curb rash on two of the wheels, one longer than the other. The roads by this dealership (Cherry Hill) are the roughest I have seen in NJ; imagine driving this Evo hard on pot-hole repairs than became speed bumps. I am worried about the clutch, the suspension, and undercarriage covers (I had to tell them that one was partial hanging, so they can clip it on again).
I'm planning to take this to a another dealership near me, that is rated well, so I can have them look at it for me, and have it lifted so I can inspect the bottom also. What else do you guys advise I should thoroughly inspect to prevent any future issues? And do you guys know any place in NJ that can fix curb rash? I don't want to do it myself, since I don't have any experience in fixing things like that.
Thanks!!!!

Welcome aboard! I've heard some good things and some bad things about Cherry Hill Mitsubishi, so if you wanna get a second opinion somewhere else thats probably good, at least for your own peace of mind.
Like you, my Evo was also my first manual car. It's not difficult to get used to, obviously the more frequently you drive it the more comfortable you'll get. My advice? Shift at ~3k to preserve your clutch. While sitting at a traffic light, keep the car in neutral instead of holding the clutch pedal in. Don't downshift, just coast in neutral to a stop. (You can, but its just more wear and tear) If you're driving WOT, don't granny shift.
I bought my Evo in sophomore year at Drexel, barely knowing how to work on cars. I'm about to graduate in 5 weeks and theres not a single project I can't accomplish myself on this car thanks to these forums. Feel free to ask any questions you may have!

Welcome! Congratulations, definitely get a second opinion and then take it back the Cherry to fix anything wrong with it. I learned manual on a 2008 nismo 350z, the EVO's are much easier to drive. Enjoy the car man!

Grats!! I wouldn't worry too much about the clutch. 2300 isn't a ton on it. If anything they broke the car in for you . I'm willing to bet that a manager used it as a daily. I doubt they did 2300 in demo miles.
We have some insanely bad roads around here as well, suspension should be good to go. I'd just worry about the under carriage and wheels. Sucks that the FE wheels have curb rash, but I say find some used BBS wheels and get those colored the same and call it a day.
Grats!
PS (Which number do you have)?
