Looking to purchase 2008 Evo X

Read a lot about the ayc pumps prematurely failing due to corrosion.

I am looking to purchase a 2008 Evo X and wanted to know more about the longevity of the pumps after relocating inside the trunk.

I found the Driven FAB Evo X ACD / AYC Relocation Kit. When completing this modification, does this ensure the pump will last for many years?

Will the pump still fail even being taken out of the elements?

What would the estimated labor cost be to install this pump on the evo 10?

Pump should go a very long time if relocated. If the car has less than 100k miles on it, Mitsubishi will warranty / replace the pump. You need to relocate it though for long term use and reliability.

I see that you live in Ontario. Trust me, relocate the pump. The driven Fab kit is 400 bucks and takes less than an hour to install.

As Napalm said, it you can get it replaced under warranty, as soon as you get the pump, put it in the trunk. I will bet the new pump will go out in like 2-3 years with the amount of salt on the roads around here.

I have had mine in the trunk for a while now. the pump will last a long time if it's not constantly bombarded with salt and gravel in the winter.

Thank you for the feedback.

The next step is to find a shop that can give me a rough estimate of the labour cost to relocate the pump and bleed the system.

Any shops in the GTA that can do this please pm or post in thread.

relocating the pump is very straight forward. if you have a buddy who can give you a hand, you can actually bleed the pump yourself without the tool.

I actually did it all by myself and it was a pain but I got it done. If you have a buddy it will be an easy job. Driven Fab even has instructions on how to do the bleed manually.

I have yet to find a shop that will do it. Most take it to Mitsu.

Save yourself the hassle and buy a $1,000 winter beater. Drive it through the winter, sell it in the spring to some kid looking for a car for $1,000. You just drove a free car basically, and you don't have to worry about our terrible salt over infested roads destroying your $20k+ car. Especially if you do any commuting on the 401. Everytime a chunk of ice came flying off a transport and into my Mazda 3 (last year's beater) I just smiled and carried on with my day.
