Max amount of mileage for a evo you'd buy?
This right here. I bought mine with 119k miles and it's been a great car. Honestly due to the mileage I wasn't even gonna go look at it. I had been looking at cars with 70k or less. But the 119k mile car was close and cheap - so I figured why not. Out of all the Evos I drove, stockish for stockish, the 119k mile drove the nicest and was clean. Somebody used it like I do, as a daily commuter so it's all been highway miles.
146k miles on it now. I figured, why bother sourcing a LOW mile one when I'm going to rack them on in a year or two anyways. That's my situation though, yours may differ. Guess the point I'm trying to make is keep an open mind. A clean car that's been driven but maintained well is not a bad car. Especially since you can get them cheaper. Just be careful

Thats basically where im at right now actually. The stigma of low miles is a better car is concerning me a little bit. But honestly I drive at least 20 miles a day during the week and plenty during the weekend so miles will def rack up for me. Thanks all for the input! Now lets hope the one im looking at is a winner!

I stack on 125+ miles daily on mine.
car quite literally goes everywhere with me
Well the one i was after didnt work out ): back to the drawing board...The thing i drove it around the block...guy wouldnt let me go on the highway and the brakes squealed like a stuck pig everytime i braked.
I've had periods where the Evo brakes squeaked a lot and then, just like that, it stopped. Sometimes a powerwash of the brakes can encourage it to stop.
if you plan on really modding it then mileage shouldn't be a big deal as long as the body and interior are ok. if you will not mod it much then just make sure you get a compression test or better yet a leak down test. if compression is good then the mileage doesn't really matter much.
As others have said, vehicle history > mileage. Unfortunately one is much easier to verify than the other. I wouldn't heistate to pick up a 1-2 owner Evo with 80-100k on it if the car's history is well documented.
I personally would go about 70k, my friend bought an 08 gsr and surprisingly it had a great compression and leak down test. The steering went out thought 2k miles later, along with the clutch, break ect, but if you have money i would by lowest posssible.
As others have said, I wouldn't be super worried about an Evo X with high miles. My current car (purchased new in late 2008) now has just over 130,000 miles on it. I kept it mostly stock (with extended warranty) through 100,000 miles. I had my AYC pump go out around 80k miles (fixed under extended warranty prior to Mitsu acknowledging the problem) and recently had my battery die (at around 125K+ and 8 years). The only other issue that I've had is that I had to recharge my AC loop last summer.
I'd agree that the suspension probably needs a refresh around 100k miles (I put coil-overs on mine around that time). That being said, mine had mostly highway miles for the first 90k of it's life (was driving like 100 miles a day).
It's not a cheap car to maintain by any means, but that's not because of reliability.
Finally, I'll say that I definitely don't have receipts for all the maintenance that I've done. I don't keep receipts for stuff like oil and filter. I do have engine oil analysis printouts from the last several years of oil changes (luckily those get e-mailed to me so they are perma-saved).
Knock on wood, but this car is pretty damn reliable IMHO.
