Evo X 2015 Ralliart Seats Suck

Okay, I have officially had enough. I did 120 miles today in my Evo X 2015 and these seats are the absolute worst. The only way I suffered the 4 day drive back from Denver was the new factor and add to that I took all the back country roads so forgot the uncomfortable seat position. Now I am living with this car day to day and I am finding it intolerable as a daily driving machine. Can all of you please tell me that spending $8K on new Recaro Sport Seats will improve my experience? My knee/thigh rests up against the side door ledge/corner, I have to shift constantly to get comfortable, I can't corner at even half power before sliding off the seat. It really is an un holy nightmare. I love this car for what it is and what it can do, but for close to $50,000 I really am thinking I made a blunder here. Maybe I am just grumpy today, but I find myself feeling so tired when I get out of this car after a full day on the road. Does any one else have a different experience with Recaro's?

Well, I guess it all depends on your body's build. If your on the slim side (for an American) the Recaro's are pretty comfy. If you're what is now an average American, they're going to pinch your midsection. My suggestion would be to find a local race shop that carries seats and find a set that works for you. There's some fiddling to install them without SES/CEL lights (but installation is well documented here and in other places), and you'll lose your side-impact seat airbags, but it sounds like it's a dealbreaker for you so it's probably worth the trouble. Planted makes some of the nicest brackets I've seen and 425 Motorsports in Bellevue is probably worth a visit to check out a variety of seats.

Recaros all depend on your body. If you fit in them, they're extremely comfortable and you don't slide around at all. Your knees don't hit anything. I am 5'9" and range between 190-210lbs, and I fit in them well I find.

Thanks for the input guys. I am 6' 2" and 195lbs on a good day so I would say slim and not average. I work out a lot too so it all helps. I have sat in the Mitsubishi fitted OEM Recaro's in a friends Evo X and I was lower in the car, felt secured in position and my left leg cleared all the door furniture because your a lot lower, so all in all I came to the conclusion these cars were never designed to have these ridiculous cheap lancer seats thrown in them. My only query is/are the Recaro's good for a day's driving? Can you get out of the car after 4-7 hours feeling good and not like you slept on a cheap sofa all night?
As for all the side airbag impact engineering, yes I need it. And in order to keep the warranty in tact, need to fit only the OEM Recaro's from Mitsubishi's parts department.

Yeah. I drive my car a lot. Commute about 2.5-3 hours a day in it during the warm months, take it up north on 6-8 hour drives, drove it into the states 6+ hours at once. I would say they're comfortable. I never got out of the car and complained, neither have any of my passengers. Only thing with the Recaros and especially the wider 2010+ side skirts, getting out of the seat is a little more difficult.

I am about your size minus 2 inches in height. I drove my Evo across country, Seattle to Buffalo and drove about 9 hours a day for 3 days. Sure there were aches from sitting so long but the seats were very comfortable.

The stock Recaros from the earlier models ('08 here) are some of the best "factory" seats I have ever had. I have done plenty of SoCal to Denver/Vegas trips in my X and never felt uncomfortable barring the normal "12-14 hours straight on the road cramps". They have decent lumbar support for the long-haul but will still keep you in place during spirited driving in the twisties.I have ridden in a lot of cars over the years with after market (Recaro/Bride/Etc.) seats and most of them are a little too "race" and not enough "DD" for me. The stock Recaros split the difference well IMO.

I would concur with six40 that due to the high side bolsters and the side skirts, getting in and out is a little more difficult than you may be used to. That being said, even taking my Grandmother to some of her doctor appointments she never mentioned anything about them and she complains about everything.

Well that is good news then. Because these 2015 Ralliart are not art at all, but art in how to produce discomfort and lot's of it. I am not kidding when I said I got home yesterday ready to trade in the Evo for a Boxster.. just to get a comfy seat arrangement. Any way, I have called my dealer and placed the order. So with any luck I will sitting in new leather wrapped and heated Recaro's in under 3 weeks. My car does not have the Aero Kit... for now, but it is on the list. I am halfway through this project. The seats, FQ400 wheels and Aero Kit then I am calling it a day. Project complete. I would agree with you and Six40.. I don't want all Race.. just the right balance.

I would love you to try these Ralliart seats. I mean really... you would come away with a new found respect for any who can survive more than 2 hours in them.
And... if the Recaro's you have are good enough for your Grandmother, then they are good enough for me. Nuff said.
