Evo X SE Lean idle issue no leaks

So when I purchased my Evo 3months ago it had a idle issue where the RPMs would drop to 300 RPMs and go back to normal I did get a check engine code P0171 I did change front O2 sensor the local AutoZone is telling me it’s the mass airflow sensor that’s bad and I’m not sure if I should believe them or not also i did do boost leak test and no leaks also all the hoses are on even the fpr hose..any help would be appreciated . Thanks

Code

I have this same issue occasionally, I also use the cobb AP. It could be the MAF like they say just clean it. It could also be the fuel relay get the new one. I have done neither of these things I just clear the code and it doesn't crop up for weeks. Tell us what you did to get rid of the code.

Do you have an oiled filter on the car? If so, cleaning the MAF could help. If it's an OEM paper filter, it's unlikely it's dirty. Are you running a canned Cobb tune or is it custom? What do the idle maps look like?

Hey

thanks for the reply i did get the MAF sesnor swapped today and the issue is this there.. next thing im a swap is fpr if that doesnt work im selling this pos. Also I’m running a JR tuned custome tune on the cobb accessport. The tune is good. The car does sometimes idle ok but then it starts choking eventually.

I have the same issue. On a stock tune, I get the exact same code and rpm behavior. Many evo owners run a stage 2 tune on a bone stock car, which I decided to try out. oddly enough, that code (or any code for that matter) hasn't come up since. also, the weird rpm behavior doesn't happen as often. Not sure whats causing it exactly, but for now, thats a temporary solution.

Stock Evo X but one part...previous owner left an AMS widemouth downpipe installed. At least for me, thats suspect, but we will see.
