We use a little kink in our test pipe for the best possible fitment and to make sure it clears the drive line. Its a lot cheaper to build a straight test pipe for the Evo X but we don't feel its the right way to do it.
On the downpipe I think the flange is the biggest thing to note. We use a custom CNC flange that tapers all the exhaust gases from the wastegate smoothly into the dump/recirc tube.
